Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am sure if I remove the spare and all junk from the frunk, and re-do the same run on the flat land with less than 1/4 of a tank it will do the same run in 5 seconds flat.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got the first row on the light that leads to the highway 60WB and recorded the run. For a slight uphill, she still accelerates great. You Tube

POST 2Original post

73 MPH? Bet you can hit 100 in that time! 2003 Carrera 4S Speed Yellow / 1955 356 Continental 1500 Rust Red

POST 3Original post

quickly googled: slowest 996 you can get should be a 3.4 Carrera 4 tip that does 0-62 in 6.2sec Then a 3.6 Carrera 6spd is 4.9s (4.8s with X51) For reference: Carrera 4s is 5.0s seems like the Op's car is still healthy for a 10yr old car. Numbers vary depending on where you look so don't hate

Yep, your numbers are correct ^. Based on the Porsche's manual my car should be hitting 60mph in 5.5 seconds, and based on the video it is right on the money. I am sure if I remove the spare and all junk from the frunk, and re-do the same run on the flat land with less than 1/4 of a tank it will do the same run in 5 seconds flat.

POST 5Original post

The best times also require you to rev it up to 5k RPM and dump the clutch. I never do that so I'll likely not see those low 0-60 times. Oh well, second gear is more fun anyway for the feeling of acceleration.

POST 6Original post

I don't ever do pure acceleration runs by dumping my clutch either. But I agree - second gear at WOT when entering a freeway is a blast! Unfortunately, I pay a price for living at altitude. I live at roughly 8,000 feet, so my car's original 320 HP is now more like 243.2 HP, assuming that I haven't lost anything with age (which I have).

POST 7Original post

Have any of you ran it up to the rev limiter and can you tell me where it kicks in please?

POST 8Original post

First of all WOW...that much of a loss, huh? Never would have guessed it's that significant and secondly, we've ALLL lost something with age....grin.

POST 9Original post

Maybe I should buy a supercharger to get it back up where it should be!

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 11005528

My parents live in Colorado and so did I when I went to college. I remember taking my GTi to Los Angeles once and being overwhelmed by all of the power it had (not much now that I look back but it sure felt fast!) - the altitude does do a great job of sucking it all away. The calculation for horsepower loss is altitude x .03 x base horsepower / 1000 = loss of power. I think you're at around 7000 feet so you should have closer to 250 horsepower.

POST 11Original post

Is that one of the few times you come close to redline? Based on your mpg, it seems like you drive it like a granny most other times.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11006354

Yes and no. I drive a lot more than the average Porsche owner. My p-car spends most of the time on the highway going to points of interest, so my MPG is always in high 20s. 400+ mile gas tanks are common. 996 is a really enjoyable cruiser, can't fault it for that.

I agree and anytime I'm in 6th gear, it's hard not to see mid to upper 20's mpg. Not bad for a 10+ year old car and technology and one that can also do 5s 0-60 times.
