I was thinking of putting the amp in the same spot (current CD changed), so based upon your experience that should be just fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks, So I'm looking at updating the current Bose High End Sound Package head unit to a Clarion NX702 . I know that I want to keep the existing speakers and also know that I need to upgrade my amp as well, since the new HU will not take the optical cable for the Bose amp. I was wondering what others have done for this type of upgrade. In particular where have you located the amp and where is the current bose amp located, since I'll be removing it all together. How difficult of an install is this and are there any great write-ups? Lastly, from the available Clarion amps, which would you recommend: http://www.clarion.com/us/en/product...ers/index.html

POST 2Original post

That's a nice looking head unit. When I had my system upgraded, I did the entire thing, including the speakers. I'd highly recommend that the speakers be upgraded as well, either now or at some point in the future. I had a Kenwood head unit installed, and a Focal amp and speakers. My amp was installed where the OEM CD-changer was, in the "frunk".

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I liked the HU as well...and it certainly has all the latest "bells & whistles" It was just announced at CES last week and not publically available, however I've got one on preorder from a direct channel. I was thinking of putting the amp in the same spot (current CD changed), so based upon your experience that should be just fine. My only concern is that I'll need to rewire all the speakers to it and how to do that with relative ease...yes relative being the word. Also, what kind of amp did you go with in terms of channels?

POST 5Original post

The Bose amp is in the spare tire well. If the new amp will fit, that's a nice ot of the way place to have it.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What are the dimensions of the Bose amp? So I can compare sizes of my alternatives. Thnx

POST 7Original post

Dennis, remind me: you posted your stereo conversion somewhere, with pics as I recall? It's on the list (right after winterizing the car).
