Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I confess. I joined 10 months ago and never posted up pics so here are a few. Thanks for all the advice, knowledge shared and good laughs everyday.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for noticing. Many hours spent underneath. Should have done before and after shots.

POST 4Original post

Yea it sure looks like you spent many hours underneath. Show car condition. Glad you finally posted some pics.

POST 5Original post

Nice looking car. Good top color with the body color. Certainly in a good part of the country for a cab.

POST 7Original post

It's never too late for redemption... Nice car, enjoy her in the best of health. BTW, what did you use(tools, cleaner, etc.) to clean the undercarriage? It looks excellent.

POST 9Original post

Great looking C4! So what did you use to clean it?

POST 10Original post

Pretty. I also wish you had taken a before pic of the underneath.

POST 12Original post

Better Late than never. Nice cab. How do you keep the undercarriage so clean?

POST 15Original post

Forget the Porsche, tell us about your other ride! What is that, a 1920 era car?

+1, I would love to see some undercarriage shots of babylons avatar.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, thanks for all the responses and compliments. I'll try to answer some of the questions but first must agree with Porsche87's last post. The other car in the garage is a 1930 Model A rumble seat coupe. Probably 40 year old restoration. Runs good except for a pesky ignition problem. There is actually a "what might have been" Porsche story with it. I get to call it mine after 15 years of marriage and do all the work to keep her going but she is actually my wife's. Story is that when my wife and her first husband split up they divided the assets including some cars. She decided at the time, with two young girls, that a 356B (think it was a cab) was not the best thing to have!!!! What might have been.... The color is as another poster said, Seal Grey. It's got the uber boring all grey interior to go with it and that is something I want to spice up this spring. As for the undercarriage, I would say I have seen better posted on this site but I am proud of the work there. Short story is its just a lot of elbow grease to get the cosmoline off. Long story is that I used everything under the sun. Used various wire brushes, plastic brushes, Dremel tool with wire brushes, plastic scrapers etc. One metal paint scraper in particular with various shapes of surfaces did a lot of the work. I tried various degreasers including the aircraft grade Simple Green BUT, I found this stuff at Kragens called Tal Strip IIRC. **** is so toxic I cant believe they sell it in Cali but i am happy they do! I used it very sparingly and carefully in a few stubborn spot. It burns like mad if you get it on you, be warned. Made sure to keep off anything that it might melt! I also washed down anything I used it on afterward as I had no idea of its effects. I do drive it a lot and enjoy the hell out of this car. Ron

POST 20Original post

Nice pics Ron, and the ventral side of your Porsche looks great, welcome.

POST 21Original post

OGW, You cannot imagine how jealous those of us living through another typical Mid-Atlantic winter are looking at your pictures. Today started with freezing rain, then a chill rain, and later we may get thunderstorms. The potholes are just starting to open up, and will fully bloom just before the tulips. Look out below! Have fun with your ride, hope to see you some year at a Rennsport Reunion in Monterey.

POST 22Original post

You sure that wasn't a replacement engine to begin with?

POST 23Original post

I didn't think anyone's undercarriage could be as clean or cleaner that Orient Express'. I know that took a lot of time, but well worth it. Congratulations! Now for some undercarriage shots of BB's avatar...
