I might be wrong, but I think if you disconnect the battery while the key is in the ignition, it will trip the airbag light.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, the light was not on prior to shipping. Picked up in Miami, FL and delivered in Maryland. When off loaded in MD, the light was on? Could the angle while being raised to the upper level in the truck cause it to trigger? Tried the battery disconnect trick and no luck...now I have the "code" on the radio

POST 2Original post

need to have the dealer reset it or get durametric to reset it.... what year is your car? Seat belt buckles are known to throw the code.

POST 7Original post

My seatbelt light has been on since I bought my MY99 Porsche over 4 years ago...black tape helps.

I think if you become a member at Renntech, Loren can get you the radio code with your VIN.

POST 11Original post

I might be wrong, but I think if you disconnect the battery while the key is in the ignition, it will trip the airbag light. Maybe the transport company did this? Regardless, you'll need to have a dealer tech reset it.

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 8489762

I'd guess that one or more seatbelt buckles need to be replaced. Someday...

POST 13Original post

If the car is moved by the transport company the internal GPS is confused by the change of several 100 miles and since the car's seatbelt was not engaged ,then the warning light comes on because the car thinks it's being driven without the seatbelt being fastened. Only kidding

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I took her to Tysons Corner Porsche, Va to get a 4-wheel alignment and had them check the airbag light. They said Lt and Rt seat belt buckles were showing bad and they could replace them for $800 . So, after reading previous threads I purchased a Durametric and a can of DeoxIT contact cleaner. Just checked the airbag faults and there was a list...Lt/Rt Buckles, all side airbags, etc! Prior to playing with the durametric, I sprayed the buckles at the connectors under both seats and inside the buckles where the seat belt latches with the deoxit. After reading the faults, I cleared them and the airbag light is off . Only time will tell how long it lasts, but I've read that folks have had good results !! Projected savings...$500

plus you got a great tool for future savings! priceless...

POST 16Original post

Yes. DeoxIT is a very useful tool, you can also use it to kill small woodland animals. Don't ask me how I know.

POST 17Original post

Can you clear airbag codes with the OBD-II reader/reset device, or is it a totally different connector? I had CEL in my beater car (01 Hyunday Elantra w/40,000 miles) - I picked up a reader/clearer - I cleared my code and it never came back.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 8573471

I don't think so...I read a post somewhere about the same question. That's why I bought the durametric

POST 19Original post

My OBD reader will not clear my 03 cab seat belt light. My Durametric will plus much more...

POST 20Original post

Glad the Durametric worked out for you. There are better local dealers than Tyson's. Those guys are the definition of a "stealership."
