Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I currently run 225/40 18's on the front and 285/30 18's on the rear (Sumi HTRZ111's) and they have been great.

I am running 235/275 on 18x7.5/10 wheels with PSS9 and GT3 sways with adj end links and the car has understeer even with the narrower rear tire (it could be tuned out with the suspension but I just got the car so a little understeer is a good safety net, and tuning out just takes grip away from the rear when I'd rather add grip to the front).

Suggestion
Going to 265mm or bigger up front you have to start running wheel spacers and maybe roll the fender lip.

going with 11" rears like the gt3 setup and run with 295 is an option.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I currently run 225/40 18's on the front and 285/30 18's on the rear (Sumi HTRZ111's) and they have been great. I am starting my research on new sneaks and would be interested in the new Michelin Super Sports, BUT, they only come in 285/35 18 rears......could I do this? I will be lowering my car a bit with the new suspension shortly, will it fit? Would it work problems? Thankx guys, in advance, for your assistance,

those diameters are reaching close the the 4% error rule of thumb and may cause prob with the abs/psm system. The threshhold of the system would decrease and may get in the way on the ragged edge.
here is the calculation.
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/40-18 3.5in 12.5in 25.1in 78.8in 804 0.0%
285/35-18 3.9in 12.9in 25.9in 81.2in 780 3.1%
going with 11" rears like the gt3 setup and run with 295 is an option. I think the tires are more prevalent in that size.... with less error.

Ferd- thankx- I will have to take another hard look at what are my options. I may have to go with PS2's, as I don't think Super Sports are available in 295's.
wait a little! and the correct fitments will b available for the super sports! very diff if not impossible to find the ps2s for the 996,worth the wait i believe, hard to beat the michelins
randy308- I was jsut on tire rack.com checking as the PS2's were also recommended. Yes, the Michelins are the gold standard, it seems, but good options in our sizes (285/30 ZR 18) are difficult to find. I might need two more Sumi HTRZ111 rears, then next season, hopefully Michelin will not leave us out there as bastard children. From what I am hearing/reading, this far, the MSS are the ticket!

I would try to get a wider front tire on if you can - what is your front wheel width? 285 or 295 out back with just 225mm in front is really going to make the car understeer even worse.

I know you can get a 245mm to fit on the front if you have an 8 or 8.5" wide wheel. Going to 265mm or bigger up front you have to start running wheel spacers and maybe roll the fender lip.
