The KDW2s are pretty sticky, look great, and were pretty cheap as far as 911 tires go (about $1000 for the whole set shipped, taxed, and installed).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I recently installed 245/35/18 BFG KDW2s on the front of my 40 Jahre with the stock 8" wide wheels. I kept the 285 stock size in the back. The suspension is stock except for konis.
The tires fit without any rubbing even at full lock and they look a lot more normal than the skinny little 225s did on that 8" wheel. They fill out the wheel well a bit better and take away from that "monster truck" ride height look.
They also balance out the car much better for slow and medium-speed tight turns such as those common in autocross.
The KDW2s are pretty sticky, look great, and were pretty cheap as far as 911 tires go (about $1000 for the whole set shipped, taxed, and installed). That being said they are LOUD around 50 mph. At highway speeds 70+ you can't tell the tires from wind but around 50mph they are very loud. I find them irritating but I know they will not be able to survive my autocross schedule for more than a year so it's no big deal. I can always drive the bimmer.
I will try to take some pics in the garage later tonight.
If you do decide to go larger, make sure you get low enough profile. I almost bought 245/40s but they would have been too tall. The 245/35s look just right.
318 what do you mean by "non-standard"?
235/40ZR18 w/ 295/30ZR18 on rear is "standard" for a MkII GT3.
fit fine no rubbing no issues at all front or rear.
Standard 996 MkII OEM Size

285/30/18
Rubbing is dependent on many many factors. Assuming OEM wheel sizes and offsets, it also depends on suspension height, camber, caster, tire mfr, and tire type.
The GT3 uses 235/40/18 and 295/30/18 since it has a completely different wheels, suspension, ride height, alignment, etc.
knfeparty has OEM wheels on his 40th anniversary with the US M030 springs, koni shocks, and probably has an autox alignment which usu has maximum negative camber and potentially less caster. with that setup, he is fitting aggressive 245/35/18 summer tires w/o probs.
having said that, i'm running 997 (i.e. very tall) tire sizes (235/40/18, 295/35/18) on 997 wb wheels w/o rubbing on my autox aligned 996 40th anniversary.
