Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I am also not entirely certain of any potential issues when you sell the vehicle, if the cluster change can be a "red flag" to a buyer, or if they would even be aware of it, say from a thorough PPI.
Leading evidence: 'Replace can be a "red flag"' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace can be a "red flag"' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

looking for oem black gauge faces only for 02' c2 manual. all the links i have found online are red, yellow, etc.. i want to swap them out for my silver oem ones. easy job? links?
EB847,
I looked to do this, but in the opposite direction - black to silver in the past, but some of the links I found weren't working. It seems it's easy to remove the cluster (and easy to find the links to do so), but not much I could find regarding DIY gauge face removal and changeout. From what I could read, you just have to be extra meticulous about needle location prior and after to gauge face removal and installation.
The best I could find, that I'm sure you've encountered, are something along the lines of this:

and,

(but the pics aren't showing)
I'm also certain that Suncoast or Sunset Porsche can find the appropriate part number for the black gauge face.
Alternatively, if you can't find the information you need and still desire black gauge faces, I would propose an even trade swappage of clusters, if yours is in normal working order. I have an '02 996 manual targa (c2), with black gauge faces that is in good working order - all LEDs, all lights, all needles, no problems whatsoever. My mileage is higher than yours, at about 82,000 miles, but the swap would be plug and play - EXCEPT for the fact that mileage is stored within the cluster from what I understand. However, I've heard that your local Porsche dealer can reprogram the cluster back to your original mileage for a small fee (I've read in the range of $20-40 in my searches), as long as you document it with the dealership ahead of time. Probably less expensive this way as well, but you do have to go through the additional step of odometer change and documentation with the dealer. I am also not entirely certain of any potential issues when you sell the vehicle, if the cluster change can be a "red flag" to a buyer, or if they would even be aware of it, say from a thorough PPI.
Let me know what you think. And, if anybody thinks this is a screwy idea that hasn't been thought out properly, let me know.
