Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

My case of the stickies must have been a little less severe, but just a little WD40 on the key (then wipe off the excess) worked for me.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car starts fine, but turning the key feels like sticking a key into silly putty and turning it! Do I have to replace the switch, or do I flood it with WD40? I looked under there, and it seems you have to take the dash out to get to this switch, are there any DIY tips for getting at this thing??

POST 2Original post

I experienced the same exact thing and had the ignition switch replaced, in fact I just picked up the car today.

Good timing! So, can you now turn the key like most other cars - crisp and easy to turn? What did the switch and labor set you back? I already have the new switch, but couldn't figure out how to get the old one out, so here it sits!

POST 5Original post

Simple DIY, save your money. Get the switch from ebay for about $20, and it takes about 15mins for a first attempt. A little contortionist skill required though....but no need for dash removal.

POST 6Original post

Loren explaines it with pics on Renntech. If you are not already a Renntech member it is well worth it to join. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...opic=493&st=20
