Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yes, the badge was originally up top and I like the look of it better down below...hence the location change...didn't know it was determined by year?

Anybody running the "Gillette Fix", I think I tried this for fun and forgot about it, still running that way...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Figured I would post some before/after pics - so far, I have updated:
-ECU Chip
-B&M Short Shifter
-K&N Cold Air Intake System
-Tinted Windows (50 in front, 43 in rear - MN laws
)
-Painted Brake Calipers
-Fabspeed Mufflers
-De-Ambered Front Headlights
-Clear Side Markers (Silver Bulbs installed in front and side)
-Updated Exhaust Tips from muffler mall - wanted the "S" look, more refined IMO - some modification required
-Stripped "Carrera 4" badge and replaced it with "911" badge
-Installed BEL-STI radar detector and installed mute/volume button, on light and alert indicator in dash button
I also have a turbo front bumper and GT3 sideskirts sitting around, and once I save enough money I will have them prepped, painted, and installed - let me know your thoughts thus far and please BE HONEST
Thanks to ALL who have helped me so far...what a journey it has been in the past few months!
As far as I know, yes - I certainly have not done anything to the ride height but the owner before me could have...I was hoping to get some PSS9 or 10's on there next year. Does it look lower or higher than stock?
was the original carrera 4 badge in the bottom location?... I thought all mk1 badges were on top of the hump... I wouldve put it in the correct year location.
I also would've put coilovers first, rather than bumper and skirts etc... a lowered car with wheel spacers dramatically changes the look as well as performance...
otherwise, the car looks great! how long have you had the car?... you seem like you got the mod bug...
Yes, the badge was originally up top and I like the look of it better down below...hence the location change...didn't know it was determined by year?
Interesting comment about the coilovers - I might end up just waiting until next year to do the bumpers and skirts, as I have already paid for them. I might do the coilovers first and then see what my thoughts are on the bumpers, although I am obsessed with the turbo bumper.
I have had the car for about 2 years now, and then I found this d*mn Rennlist site and it has been downhill since then
Around here I never really get to compare the car with too many others, and once you see the possibilities out there you get hooked and the mod bug takes over.
Thanks - the tips came from Muffler Mall online for about $85 or so, but I had to actually cut the stock fitting and weld them on to the aftermarket tips since they were a tad different and would not line up in the clamps from Fabspeed.
if you look between the front wheel and the hub... you will see a silver 15mm spacer. It pushes the wheel out 15mm and fills the wheel well as well as widen the car for a more aggressive look. You can go 15mm all around.
lol.... at this rate, youll never get the coilovers. Dont forget longer wheel bolts. If you put 15mm on, you need 15mm longer bolts from stock.

I know, you're telling me?!?! I think I might end up doing 21mm in rear, 15 in front. Is this too much extension off the rear?
Another day, another mod found.
joes,
Thanks and yes I did it myself - I used to work as a car audio/remote start installer in my high school years back in Chicago - however, we worked on Hondas etc, not many Porsches came through the door
Jon,
I went with a guy from Ebay (I'm living and learning, yes) for about $350K. The only noticable difference is that the car will actually output power towards redline and it definitely is stronger from 5-7K RPM. For whatever reason, occasionally before I had the chip tuned it would give out a bit after 6K RPM.
Haha sorry, $350. Not 350K.

Speedtuning USA was the seller, Oliver was the contact.
Very interesting ebay link. Anyone else tried this?
Do they send you a flash loader then you would download and flash their software yourself? If they do custom tuning, that would be awesome!
so, are you exhaust tips round, or oval?
I'm looking at the tips on Muffler Mall
http://www.mufflermall.com/index.php...roducts_id=737
Are they the same? Yours look rounded, but the ones linked above seem more oval - I prefer the oval shape.
Redridge,
I have a 99 996 w/18" turbo twists. I got the H&R sport springs in a box and will be getting the Bilstein Sport Springs. Do you know if the tires rub w/this set up and 15 mm spacers all around?
Thanks!
That price is low enough that I might just roll the dice assuming another $25 bucks to a muffler shop to modify the pipe if necessary. My only hesitation is it says "fits 1998 - 2001"
I don't remember there being much of a difference between the mufflers/tips fitment from Mk1 to Mk2, thought it was pretty universal on the narrowbodies for all years. Anyone remember if there were any issues (e.g. will a stock Mk1 tip fit a stock Mk2 muffler on a Mk2 car?)
If anything on ebay was at 200 bucks or lower (for the dansk or schnell), I would do that and do the 30% cashback thing they've got going right now, but haven't seen any deals.
Looks good. I do like the idea of the spacers for your car. Can you tell me how you like your cold air intake? I'm looking at the K&N series 63 for HP gain and sound enhancement.
Jes,
(pssst... I suggest you post a standalone introduction thread for yourself... and wait for Tim to ask for pictures) <wink>...

OH YEA.... didn't you know Porsche restricted the air flow accidently, reducing the HP by 29 points.... just buy a few pieces of poorly thought out sheet metal, foam tape, screws that will rust if the ever get wet.... drill holes in your car to help lighten it up and promote rusting, take out that well thought out air box, open up that air flow to bring that HP right back up!
Anybody running the "Gillette Fix", I think I tried this for fun and forgot about it, still running that way... LMAO!!
Might want to reverse that someday.....
Sorry folks. Meant sound. It's easy to get caught up in the lingo. Looking for the race car sound to go with the car. My benz had a bigger roar than my stock system. I'd like to make it sound like it goes from 0-60 in 5 seconds.
