Checking for power with a multimeter, with the fuel pump relay jumpered I have 12 Volts at the pump/sensor connector on top of the fuel level sending unit.

I have an 01 911 Cab 53K. Car ran perfectly, parked in garage 4 wks later it will not start. I believe I have diagnosed the problem to a bad fuel pump. If I add fuel to the throttle body it fire right up. Checking for power with a multimeter, with the fuel pump relay jumpered I have 12 Volts at the pump/sensor connector on top of the fuel level sending unit. I have no fuel coming up from the fuel lines at that location. So I assume the pump is not working. A couple of questions. Is this type of fuel pump failure common, how dificult is the replacement of the pump, do I need the special tool to unscrew the cap. and are there any other trouble shooting techiques I should try before the pump comes out. Thanks for any help Denny

If you have 12 volts at the pump, then it is definitely the pump. yes this is a common problem withthis car, I see many. R&R is pretty easy. just look at the new part and its self explanitory. I dont use a tool for the ring. I use a BLUNT chisel and rubber mallot and carefully tap and loosen. also, connect the relay and check for power with the key. Let me know
