Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When this happened to me, I cleared the drain lines and used the absorber drying towels to dry the carpet out...put two down and they suck the water out of the carpet.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I spilled a water bottle in the back passenger side. I keep lifting the carpet and putting towels in there to dry and it is still wet.
Suggestions? Thanks
Put the top down (not if raining) and go for a long ride. The engine/trans heat will help alot. When that happens to one of our cars I keep putting stacks of newspaper in to help soak up the water.
Double check your drain lines while you are at it. If they get clogged, the water can end up on the rear floor. Try propping up the rear carpets with a short section of 2x4 lumber to let air circulate underneath. Put a fan on it too.
like frisbee mentioned, there may be a clogged drain tube and water has been slowly accumulating in the rear footwell. A friend of mines 996 Cab had the same issue; in a heavy rain, result: damage to the immobilizer, eelctronics under driver seat. Indi gutted the interior to dry out carpet and all insulation; that stuff was like a huge 30lb sponge.
Removed trim around battery
Sucked area with shop vac
put grabber in each hole
Resucked out with shop vac
Blew out with air cac
ran weed eater line down each hole
Blew out each hole wth shop vac reversed
Poured water in each hole, drained (3) holes by battery
Put shammy under carpet wth fan on
Fingers crossed
Did you check the rear drains also? You may have to put the top in the service position and remove the carpet behind the roll bars to really get to them. I vacuum that area often to keep junk from clogging the drains back there.
newpapers
its too late now, but newspapers will use capliary action and pull the water out from deep inside the fibers. Every had wet shoes and needed them dry fast? Stuff newspapers in there...seriously amazing how fast they dry (might have to repeat if super wet)
just a thought
Don't forget the drain holes behind the rear fender liners. Holes are at the bottom of the fender liner in front of the rear tire. It's a quick job to remove the fender liner, remove gunk and drain but it is way easier if the car is on a hoist and the rear wheels are off. I now make it a practice to do this every time the car is in for service.
When this happened to me, I cleared the drain lines and used the absorber drying towels to dry the carpet out...put two down and they suck the water out of the carpet. Wring out every hour or so.
