Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All: I know the RMS thing... beaten to death in this forum, but here we go once more. Just curious if anyone has had an RMS issue (repair and/or engine replacement), on a factory installed X51 upgraded engine (and namely on any 40th Anniversary editions out there which come with the factory installed X51 as standard)? Just had to ask. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I don't know that I have a RMS issue, but at 8700 miles I'm noticing a few drops of oil on the garage floor. The car's going in the shop next week and I'll keep you posted on whether it's a RMS issue or if something else is causing the drip.

POST 3Original post

x51 is all top end . As such has nothing to do with the RMS issue.

POST 4Original post

I know your hoping it's something else, so was I when I saw oil drops on garage floor, but it probably is rms.

POST 5Original post

Nope. So far, so good. Now that I said that...

POST 6Original post

supposedly even the new 997 S has RMS vulnerability ben on rennteam reports one on his 997S

POST 7Original post

Just got positive confirmation from my service rep...... my leak was caused by the RMS.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry to hear about this LiveNupe. I've got about 2500 miles on mine and started to notice small quarter sized drops on the garage floor. They are located on the drivers side around the rear axle area. I'll take it in for an inspection. Aside from this and a coolant leak I had due to a loose clamp by the water pump, the car has been clean. And just curious, not that it may mean something, but what is the serial # of your 40 Jahre? Mine is #1034, January 20-something '04 build. C4S Surgeon: Thanks for the reassurance.

POST 10Original post

# 693... not sure of the build date but it's obviously an early build.

POST 11Original post

Sure it's an easy repair, but it will probably happen again! Anyone just fixed rms once and put on some serious mileage without getting it again?

POST 12Original post

you are used to things that drip unfortunately the car cant be cured with anti biotics.

POST 13Original post

since the RMS leak is usually just a few drops of oil, can't you just keep on driving and refilling the oil as needed until the leak worsense and then get it fixed? (i remember reading about people doing this either here or on renntech i believe).
