Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That's why you should have your brake fluid changed regularly.
Leading evidence: 'Replace regularly' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace regularly' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Youll be fine, I would just siphon the whole tank and replace with the same oil and call it a day!

So I quickly siphoned out what I could and then used paper towels to soak up as much as I could of the washer fluid.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I was out and about all day. Came home around 3 and the wife says "lets go for a drive".
I had the trunk open to remove groceries and I decide to add windshield washer fluid. It's yellow, so without thinking, I open the Brake fluid container (also yellow fluid). I poured in about 2 oz. before I realized "F*** . So I quickly siphoned out what I could and then used paper towels to soak up as much as I could of the washer fluid.
Im going to get the whole system flushed in the new year. How much damaged have I done????...I have never done anything so stupid in me life...well at least not to my car?
that could possibly blow the engine!!!, you now have fluid with your oil... do a search for oil/fluid inter mix... ahhhhh, nevermind.
Youll be fine, I would just siphon the whole tank and replace with the same oil and call it a day!
I would have the brake fluid flushed as soon as you can - because water is heavier than oil, it will quickly get to the low points in the system and start to cause corrosion.
Wait a minute - who said anything about oil? You said you added windsheild washer fluid to the brake fluid reservior. This is not a good thing, but won't blow the engine, it doesn't have anything to do with the engine!
You haven't done any damage - brake fluid is hygroscopic and naturally absorbs moisture from the air, which lowers it's boiling point. That's why you should have your brake fluid changed regularly. What you have done is added a bunch of water (I'm assuming your washer fluid was water-based. If it's alcohol based, pretty much the same thing applies anyway). So you've lowered the boiling point of your brake fluid by quite a bit.
Normal daily driving probably won't get your brakes hot enough to boil the fluid, so just have your brake system flushed as soon as you can.
agreed, since you mention you soaked up as much as you can I assumed the fluid was lighter and floated on top...
my bad... you dont want this stuff in your brake line
Are you sure? I read in some forum from a member's friend's cousin's wife that their car's engine blew when they accidentally mixed brake fluid with something else.
I'd flush the system before touching the brake pedal. Who know what that stuff might do to the master cylinder (relatively inexpensive) or the ABS valve body (very expensive).
Sorry about your mishap, but hey sh*t happens. Luckily it's easily fixable. I just think it's cool that your wife asked YOU to go for a drive and not the other way around.
his wife must be hot, post pics....... My wife never asks to go for a drive in the middle of winter.
I would not worry too much about the mishap, I once did the reverse and poured brake fluid into the washer fluid, that was crappy.
