funny is that I found out if I only use remote without assemable with another half key, the signal strong enough to go through the wall.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello guys, I'm new to here. I have some problem with my remote key recently. the key signal just degradeing and it's hard to lock/unlock the car. first I thought it could be low battery. after I put in new battery and still the same. I clean up the transmitter and still the same. funny is that I found out if I only use remote without assemable with another half key, the signal strong enough to go through the wall. I was play with remote while change battery, when I tested remote by press the button - my car in garage are locked. but after I put them together, even I close to my window and still hard to lock/unlock. is that mean I need a new remote head? any input would be appreciated. Eddie '99 C2

POST 2Original post

Eddie: First off "Wellcome to Rennlist!" Second, they are notoriously sucky with regards to range. My 99 was the same way.I did clean the plastic halves of the remote, incuding the IR remote "window" and that helped. But yoou will just have to hold it up to your chin to get better range. I never found a way around it. Even my 02 C4S is lacking in range. Good luck and I hope you know it is a new user requirement to post car pictures by your 5th post JK Tim

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, Tim. I appreciated your help. being a long time BMW driver (E30 325, E34 540, E39 540), Chris Bangle finally kicked me out of their court. here is my little shy stock 99 C2...

POST 4Original post

Eddie: Cool! I to came from BMW (had 14 of them over the years). Let me know if you get any better range

POST 5Original post

Search the forum, this has een discussed before (it happened to me, I had to have it re-programmed). Nice car!!!

POST 6Original post

When I complained to my dealers service manager, he said the system was very poor and he didnt know why porsche uses it. This is a problem porsche can resolve by improving the remote and security system. If everyone complains to their dealers maybe after time an improved system will be introduced. So; everybody go complain to Porsche.

POST 7Original post

If you put the metal part of the key against your chin it increases the range.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just picked up the new key and works like charm. now I can open/lock my car from my office...=) $347 out of dealer's door... it's almost twice price compare to BMW... ouch! Thanks for all your help.

POST 9Original post

Let us know if the new key still works great after several months. If it does, I may spring for a new one myself.
