Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to get new lightweight wheels for my 2000 996. I bought it with heavy 19" RD Sport wheels. Was told they weigh 28 frnt and 32 rear. i can save around 35 to 40 lbs of unsprung weight... Any recommendations and advice on which to go with 18 or 19 lightweights? Am looking at Champion rs 97 monolite 19' and or porsche 5 spoke lightweight 18" Autocrossing and driving 3-4 days a week... Thanks for the advice!!!

POST 2Original post

The 5 spokes are great, hollow turbos are roughly the same weight as well, and you might be able to find them for less. They both will have improved ride quality over 19s. I also think 18s are better choice for the track.

POST 3Original post

Check out the Techart Formula GT's. around 18 lbs i think. I've had them for two years now and am very happy with them. I would agree that an 18" for track work is the way to go.

POST 4Original post

19" are better for looks. 18" are better for track work, but you are not doing much beyond autoX. It depends you can buy some 18 for track and use the RD for the street. I personally like HRE wheels for looks, the weight is a little heavy 25lbs. Another good wheel is the Kinesis. The Champion is good but expensive. If you are dedicated to track days then you need a set of track wheels, but if your an occasional use guy you can use the 19" with street tires. I would opt of the 19" since my DE and AutoX days don't amount to more than 4-5 times a year.
