You should change the oil/oil fliter every 15,000 miles or 1 year which ever comes first, and every 2 years the brake fluid should be changed.

My 996 has about 7000 miles on it, but it is 2 years old. Is has not had any service done for it since they got rid of the 1 year service interval on 2004+ cars.. however, I believe that there is a 2 year interval plan for the 2004 model.. is this correct? What service should be done & how much should it cost? TIA

The dealer here (San Diego) recommends a yearly "service" (oil change plus mostly visual inspections). With only 7k, oil change for sure. If you have not replaced the brake fluid in 2 years, it's cheap insurance to replace it too....and make sure they bleed the clutch as well (which they would usually skip for a brake flush according to my dealer). - Ahsai

BTW, if you DIY, make sure you keep all the receipts of the OE parts (e.g., oil filter/seal ring, syn oil, brake fluid, etc.) in case proper maintenance is in question for any future warranty claims. - Ahsai
