Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, so I bought an orbital polisher. It has two types of surface attachments. Two terry cloth types, and one that looks like fleece. I hand apply the wax, then remove with the terry cloth attachment, then hand buff with another towel. What the heck is the fleece type for?? Am I doing something wrong?

POST 2Original post

Palting - Porter Cable orbital polisher which I use to polish the car. I also have a 10" buffer, which I use to remove the wax (or synthetic polymer protectant) that I applied by hand. I put the fleece under my cotton or microfiber bonnet when I remove the wax. It gives you a little softer padding for the buffing bonnet.

POST 3Original post

Fleece are you sure it's not foam? Foam is typically for polish and so is a randam orbital polisher.

POST 4Original post

Are the terry ones bonnets that go over the wool/fleece pad or actual terry covered pads. The wool/fleece is very agressive more so than a foam cutting pad. Look at some of the detailing sites autopia etc and order yourself some good foam pads along with a good backing plate. I only use the polisher to polish and compound and occasionally to put on wax or polymer. All removal of polishes, waxes, etc I do by hand using a microfiber towel.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There is foam backing, or actually fronting the surface . I should have called the terry and fleece things as bonnets, not attachments. The terry cloth goes over the foam. The foam is plenty thick. I suppose the fleece can go under the terry cloth for added padding, but I thought maybe it was for something else.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
