Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
The TPC kit uses Positve displacement and the Evo uses Centrifugal.
Leading evidence: 'Use centrifugal' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use centrifugal' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is the motor warrantied or the puffer? Probably the latter, at least the price is headed inthe right direction.
Is it just me, or does it look slightly cobbled? I saw a TPC kit on a 993, looked slick, very fast and reliable.
Would never consider a SC for my car but is it just me or is this kit look nothing like the EVO kit that costs the same? Just not very good looking compared to it's "competition". Here is a pic of the EVO kit.
Dan....why did you decide to go with TPC and not EVO? Just curious as I am not bashing or endorsing either. But that first pic you posted looks like the SC is held together by yellow duct tape or something and the rest is just cold metal welded together. I am sure it is just fine but just trying to understand why one product looks like it was just thrown together in somebody's garage and the other looks like some serious money went into aethetic design as well.
I will admit, it's not the best looking piece. That said, I don't think I will dismiss it just yet, as I don't think aesthetics are really important to engine mods? I always thought the chrome SC of the EVO was a bit much, almost trying to cover up for something it might be lacking. (flame suit on!)
Separately, I am debating on whether a EVO/TPC at $15k installed is better than a RUF at $20k installed. Is a warranty and RUF plate, worth $5k????
Thanks Chris. But, seriously....30hrs install time? I thought somebody quoted less than 10hrs recently. I'll have to do some searching to verify I read that.
There are some great threads on this subject. Here is one that seemed to be pretty good:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/217493-tpc-vs-evo-supercharger-kits-for-the-3-6l-02-carrera.html
The evo kit is 11,500 plus install, the tpc is 10k plus install. Install has been quoted to me at btwn 20 and 30hrs @100/hr. Neither one warranties the engine, only the sc. In short, yes, that makes the Ruf worth a little more.
I think that kit looks terrible, If your going to spend $ 9600.00 why not spend $ 11500.00 ? I dont know about you guys bit if my 996 had a charger I would want to show anyone, and it IMHO that kit looks Micky Mouse. I know it might make great power, but so does the EVO and it looks good!
I don't know much about either kits but the evo kit does look allot better. Plus, think about this everyone. Are we driving Porche or are we driving honda's?
Just an FYI...the pictures posted I believe was TPC's R&D kit. I had the pleasure of seeing one of the retail kit installed in person (I live 10 miles from TPC) and looks 100 times better almost OE looking.
It's also a matter of Positive displacement vs. centrifugal superchargers. The TPC kit uses Positve displacement and the Evo uses Centrifugal. From my limited research

looks like Centrifugal will have more of a lag, much like turbos.
The new kits look like this:
i've seen and been in both cars. i don't know why tpc keeps that pic published as it looks like ****. the kits look much better and more professional now than that the pic of that beta unit that keep popping up everywhere.
tpc kits are about triple the labor and the 3rd radiator is an option (but you really need it) with the tpc kit. so figure that into the price as well. i've been told it's about 30-40 hours to properly install the TPC kit and around 10-12 to do the EVO kit. the EVO kit includes the 3rd radiator.
having been in both cars, the TPC car is definatley a little faster. it's also noisier as well. however, i went with the EVO unit for three reasons. there a ton of evo dealers, including my local porsche dealer. they remap the ecu instead of piggybacking. and lastly, the EVO kit uses larger injectors instead of the 7th injector.
the tpc kit works great and puts down tons of low end HP and TQ, but i'm just not sure how this type of kit will affect the longevity of the motor.
We carry both kits to fancy anyones tastes. The reason we started carrying this kit is because it provides a different kind od forced induction unlike the EVOMS kit like described above. We figured we might as well carry both just in case someone wanted to choose we could take care of your needs!
Make me a deal I'll bite even tho the car is gone with in 2 months I would like to say I had a charged 996, even tho I am sure saying I have a TT 997 will feel better!
Vivid,
Do you have any sound clips of this unit accelerating/idling on a 996? I'm very curious to hear how it sounds because there are some very interesting reviews on it to say the least
Chris,
Thanks
I've been toying with the idea of switching wings, but my mk.II wing has a carbon fiber blade which I have not seen on a single 996 yet (well, except for eli's car in CA). So I kind of like the "uniqueness" of it. But totally agree, the mk.I aero is definitely one of the better looking mods for 99-01s.
More reason to hear it
vivid,
Would love to hear a clip if you can get your hands on one. I'm sure alot of people around here would like to as well
Concerning the Evo install time, we charge roughly 17 hours of labor for the install. That puts the TPC (30 hours) and the Evo (17 hours) at roughly the same overall cost installed. I would imagine other shops are similar as well.
Doc, I wish I still lived in KC, I'd have you guys do a charger for me. The only place here has only done a handfull and I can't see going back and forth to their shop 14 times a day.
We wish you were still here too
My january is getting busy, i have a supercharger to install the 1st week, and one to install the 2nd week. I just finished one last friday, so at least that one is out the door. And finish our prototype for the 3.2L boxster supercharger.....gonna be rockin.
