Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm still ISO a 2002 C4S (maybe even a C4 cab). If I buy from a Porsche dealer w/ CPO it generally still costs more than buying from a non-Porsche dealer/private seller even after you factor in buying an aftermarket warranty.
I know that CPO is not a bumper-to-bumper warranty, what is excluded? It's 2 year, 100K, no deductible, right?
I found that Warranty Direct (they have good feedback) will sell a 4 year, 100K, no deductible "big ticket item" warranty for about $3K and a 4 year, 100K, no deductible "bumper-to-bumper" for $5K. Both cover seals and gaskets.
On paper it seems that aside from the convenience, buying from a non-Porsche dealer nets out with 2 more years of warranty, option of bumper to bumper coverage, comparable or lesser cost. Assuming the car passes a PPI of course.
What is your advice? TIA
I was very unhappy with the CPO, as it did not take care of ANY workmanship issues (rattle, steering wheel ratchet sound, cruise control reprogramming, windsheild seal, and a few other things). It is primarily a big ticket emergency plan. I imagine most aftermarket policies are just as good.
Most after market warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. I would go with the CPO warranty; however, there are decent aftermarket warranties out there you just have to be VERY careful with your due diligence. Otherwise you are out 4-5k and the company is gone when you have a claim. CPO will not obviously cover rattles and such, but it is at least legit so you have that piece of mind. If you know a reputable auto broker I would ask them about who to use for an aftermarket warranty.
How does the CPO work? Does it list out components covered or does it list components excluded from coverage? Would it be possible see the list? I guess the $64 question is which plan is CPO more akin to.
This is the list of covered components under Warranty Direct's "big ticket items" plan:
This is the list of exclusions to Warranty Direct's "bumper to bumper" plan. It doesn't look like it would cover "workmanship issues" like rattles or even the windshield seal.
I have a Warranty Direct policy, but can't comment on them since I've never used it. But be aware that many mods you make after the warranty (air box, exhaust, etc.) will invalidate the policy. So, read closely!!
I'm still looking, dammit :-o
Actually my search is on hiatus 'cause I've been super busy with holiday stuff but my #1 New Year Resolution is to park a 911 in the garage. But rest assured the minute the ink is dry on the title, you all will be the first to know (I know, I know I'll post pictures).
