Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

use the money to buy a set of snows for our 02 Cab and take a chance that we won't have huge snow storms on the Cape this year.
Leading evidence: 'Use money' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use money' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We skidded off the road in our SUV and while not totaled will be tied up for a month...and of course to save money we didn't get rental auto on our insurance.
So...our choice is to rent a vehicke for a month....like $1500

What do you think?
I'd vote for the "snows" on your C2. IMHO, the rear engine placement makes the C2 a great snow car. The car has great traction and can be a lot of fun in the winter. Plus, the PSM system will help keep you out of serious trouble.
Good Luck!!
hope that your OK after the accident.
It's not the question of can the car do, it sure can with less than 6" of non-plowed snow, but what is the risk of another driver taking you out in your beautiful C4cab. I would not take that risk.
With a C2 I'd go for the rental option. And I would absolutely, positively go for hte rental reimbursement option on your insurance policy. I didn't have it when I got rear ended, either, and I have to fork out 3 months of rental car fees out of my own pocket (I got reimbursed after the fact, but in the mean time I had to put the whole thing on my credit card). I think it's an extra 10 bucks a month, or something insignificant like that.

I know this is hindisght Don but you need to have rental insurance on your policy. The amount you pay every six months compared to adding the rental does NOT make sense. I just took a peek at my policy and it is a whopping $11.25 for rental car coverage and $6 for towing (which does not require an accident).
I am glad to hear you are ok but hopefully this will convince you to splurge the extra $11 for rental coverage. It amazes me that we will spend upwards of $100K on a car, thousands in upgrades and mods, yet skimp when it comes to minor auto ownership costs such as rental.
GLad you and your wife's ok Don. You might do well with some snow tires since your cab is C4 but I would rent just to be safe since you 996 is your baby.
Sorry to hear of this. Hope you guys are OK. My vote would be for a rental car. Negotiate for a weekly, or monthly rate. Body shops are rarely on-time..
Do you have rental insurance on the Porsche? It may seem like a stretch but i'd hate to think that if something were to happen with the Porsche (even with snows), you'd be out of luck again.
Glad all is OK.
Apologies for going off topic a bit, but I'd be interested to learn from the snow tyre fraternity their views on which is the best winter tyre for a 996? Not that we get that much snow in London Town, i was just thinking in terms of performance in low temperatures.
