This is not a probability of success.

For routine engine maintenance and to get at just the engine and suspension for cleaning I use ramps

Depending on the condition of your underside, cleaning tools and chemicals can vary from Simple Green and a brush or rag, to a pressure washer and Mineral Spirits if the Cosmoline has never been removed, or if the bottom has never been cleaned.

Peter, I just jack up the right rear side and get under and replace the filter and open the drain plug, then release the jack and let it sit back level for 30 minutes to COMPLETELY drain the oil.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

How do you guys get under your cars to change oil, etc? I think I want to start doing some of my own oil changes, etc and after looking under there a few times I need to clean the engine uner there, its filthy!!
What do you guys use, ramps or jacks? What is the best product to clean underneath the car? I want to use some sort of degreaser to get the grime off. Thx.
my driveway is on a bit of a slope..so i just back down the slope onto ramps that have 2x6 boards as extensions(otherwise you will scrape).....make sure the car is level and you will have more than enough room to work....
For routine engine maintenance and to get at just the engine and suspension for cleaning I use ramps
For more serious cleaning and underbody access, I put the car on Jack Stands.
Details for putting the car up on Jack Stands is Here.
