Well, thoughts from the maided winter voyage in the Carrera.

The car drives great and the motor feels very strong in 10 Degree temps. I did have a hard time keeping the windows defrosted. The only way that I could keep them clear was to have the defroster on full blast. Only problem with that is dealing with the hot air blowing off the windshield and right into your face. I never could get the back quarter windows to defrost. Other than that, the car was great. I was expecting an increase in any creaks or rattles that may exist, but I heard nothing. Overall very pleased.

The windows are frosting because of all the moisture in the air. A word of advice: try to breathe less.

That seems like something fairly easy to fix.

Did you leave the a/c on? that dries the air in the cabin.

It defrosted the windshield and the door windows, but it was slow.

Make sure your controls are set for outside air. I drive mine all the time in below zero temps and have never had a problem. I don't even put the defroster on. Crack the driver's window open a bit.

I agree with 1999Porsche911, I don't use the defroster to defrost my windows. Setting the climate control when I start up the car keeps the windows clear for me. I had the same problem with the defroster, it didn't really defrost and it was blowing a lot of hot air in my face all the time. I tried the A/C trick also.

This became a really funny thread. A nice morning pick-me-up. Seriously, a friend of mine recommended that Defog product from the makers of Rain-X. You might want to try applying that to all the windows, but when it's that cold, there's not a lot of chance that your going to be able to keep the windows from frosting over. Something I usually do is to point the side air vents outwards towards the windows. As for the front window, start the car and let it defrost without sitting in it. The moisture in your breath really can inhibit the process.

Also a small hint You take � gallon luke warm water (NOT warm), and use that to wash away the initial frost, ice and snow from your windows. Use hot water and your windows may crack. Use the wipers once or twice, and then your AC only needs to deal with a very thin layer of ice instead of 3 feet of snow. I do that instead of scraping my windows clean. Way faster and it works wonders

When you say "windows defrosted" do you literally mean on the outside the windows or do you mean fogging up on the inside or literal frost on the inside? There are different causes and solutions for each of the problems. The fogging on the inside is a result of too much moisture in the air (as stated above). Make sure the climate control unit is not set on the recycle setting. This will only cause problems. Also excessive snow and ice being brought in the car from your shoes and then melting can cause problems. Use the Auto feature on the climate control. If the car is stored in a climate controlled garage, crack the window during storage to help get the moisture out of the car. A cold engine will result in the climate control system not working effectively until the engine has warmed up enough to allow the system to produce heat. I have driven my car year round and the only problem I have with the climate control system is in rain or the summer months. The Auto feature allows too much cool air to circulate on the windshield and will cause condensation on the outside of the windshield with the A/C on. However, I have found the Auto function to work very effective during the winter months.
