Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have '02 C4S, windshield badly pitted and has a big chip/crack in it on passenger side. Heard a rumor once that it is best to NOT use oem porsche glass as PPG is much better? Anyone confirm/deny this rumor? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Never heard of that. Remember that the antennae is built into the glass so I'd go with OEM if price is not an issue. Your insurance should cover the cost of deductible. As for installer, ask your dealer for recommendation. You may want to remove the interior a pillar covers before the install so that the installer doesn't cut into them by accident.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Or at least this is the story I keep getting from the auto glass companies. So looks like I have to bend over to the tune of about $1,000 (windshield, molding, sealant, labor, sales tax, etc) to have the dealer do it. I have Mercury insurance with $1,000 deductible. They only waive deductible for "repair", not for "replacement". So I'm out-of-pocket on this one. ...and to think, wife just had her '05 subaru outback's windshield replaced by the subie dealer for $200...sure wish the Japanese made an interesting sports car, i'd be a richer man

POST 4Original post

My insurance (USAA) as well as my old crappy company (GEICO) both have no cost winshield replacement programs. That's right, $0 out of your pocket to get your winshield fixed and it does not go against your record. Never heard of Mercury Ins. but is sounds like they cheap.
