Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My friend with the 40th anniversary 911 just brought his car in and the dealer said they are having a recall to replace the "air housing". Has anyone else heard about this? Does it only apply to 02+ models or all 996 applications across the board? Anyways, wanted to give you guys the heads up on this...

POST 2Original post

Yea, my 04 996 had the recall. No big deal plus you get a new air filter. I think I was at the dealer about 45 mins total. Had the chance to look at some of the new stuff while I was there. Don't know all the models effected.

POST 3Original post

What the heck is an air housing? Sounds suspiciously like an EVO cold air intake....

POST 4Original post

if porsche is recalling it and actually "paying" out of their own pocket.. then it must be a $10 part <g>

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, it doesn't sound like a big deal at all, but I thought it was interesting to hear since I've never heard anyone doing it here... Thanks for the info

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Coming from your history, I hear ya! I found it quite odd as well

POST 8Original post

This was a relatively small volume service action. I think it only applied to MY04 cars. Porsche will replace the entire air cleaner housing and airfilter. I guess there were some problems with a small run of air cleaner housings and unmetered air was entering the engine.. therefore they're replacing them with known good ones. If I remember right this was the W532 service action.

POST 9Original post

Thanks PTEC. Renntech.org (click on link for info) has the W532 service action details with VIN# range of potentially affected vehicles.

POST 10Original post

they did mine too. I got 50 extra HP at the rear wheels.

POST 12Original post

Hmmm, I got an extra 80 hp when they did mine.
