key fob wont unlock doors/shutt off alarm.. came home last week and couldnt get the key fob to lock the door... Manually locked it went inside and replaced the battery...still nothing Replaced the guts (its a new 911 fob) with my spare key....everything works fine. didn't drop it or dunk it in my coffee...any ideas...ever happpened to anyone else? I'm sure i will need the spare sooner rather than later....I need it to work Thanks in advance...

The battery charges when its in the ignition...sometimes if I don't use a key for a while it seems to die until I use it for a while.

Are you sure about that? I don't think so. It is true that the car will lock the key fob out after x many days (I think 5 or so) and that you will need to manually unlock the car and then hit the key fob to get it all squared away.

Not true. The battery in the key is not "rechargeable" and there is no charger in the key or ignition. When the battery goes dead it must be replaced.
