Suggestion

Okay just my 2 cents!...there are splitters from porsche for the turbo and 4 and 4s models, hence that style of bumper. Then there are splitters for the aero kit 2 and gt3 style bumpers, one of those is called the cup splitter and is distingushed by the way it wraps around to the wheel well opening.the regular gt3/aerokit spoiler does not.The motorsports cup splitter happens to cost less, dont ask me why?its less material, anyway they are made from a flexible material some sort of polyplastic and are designed to flex and give, and believe me there gonna get a little banged up,even the clips and the adhesive strips will give way if they are stressed enough, better the splitter than the bumper cover

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any know a good place to source one? I have done a search and it appears most place don't have them? I did find one place and the price online over $200 shipped. My local dealer wanted $275. These prices seem much higher than what others had paid. Anyone have recent experience? Thanks.

GMG racing oem factory cup splitter, around 185.00 dollars just got one...good luck

POST 3Original post

996 GT3 Cup Front Splitter Available for the Porsche 996 GT3 model, this bolt-on front splitter is a great aerodynamic addition for your Porsche. It is a direct bolt on piece for any 996 GT3 street car. This front splitter provides additional down force and high speed stability for your GT3. This is the same splitter used on 996 Cup cars. Price: $190.00 Porsche Factory Aerodynamics . * * * . . - - - - -

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I ended up going with Sunset Porsche for $167 plus shipping. I'll post some pics after I get it installed.

Was that price for the Cup splitter or the standard GT3?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

bermensch it was for the Cup.

POST 9Original post

Best is to use some double sided tape over the front section of the spoiler. We automatically include this...

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I finally got the GT3 Cup Spoiler installed. All and all not too bad to install. Attached it with OEM plastic screw anchors that were made for this application. Did take a bit of dremel work on the ends to get it to fit correctly. I think it turned out pretty well visually. I have had the car in the triple digits a few times and feels more stable. What ya'll think?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9394804

Thanks No they were separate but really inexpensive something like $0.10 or $ 0.20 each. You will need 15 total.

POST 13Original post

Would you happen to have the part number for those anchors? I am trying to install a turbo lip 9965053550001C on my car and none of the dealers seem to know what part number those anchors are. Thanks

POST 14Original post

Not sure if the turbo lips are exactly the same holes as GT3's but for some reason, the expansion rivets aren't listed for Turbo Lip that I can find. They do list it for GT3 lip though: http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...-05/802-00.php Look at item 4 for expansion rivets. If I'm understanding you correctly, I think this is what you mean? FWIW, I found out hardware stores like Home Depot and Menards also carry expansion rivets if you end up losing a couple in the future.

POST 15Original post

I found them part# is 999.507.497.40 in case anyone needs to know. Wow, that was NOT easy, LOL.

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 10148202

The Turbo/4S doesn't use the anchors. The splitter fits into a slot that traverses the entire bumper cover and is held into place on the ends with two screws inside the fender. I'm not sure you can properly fit a turbo Splitter onto a C2 bumper. I could be wrong, but it is a totally different design.

POST 18Original post

No wonder, I guess I was confused by MiamiC70's post as he was looking to put on a turbo lip but he was looking for anchors. I misunderstood it to mean expansion rivets instead.

POST 20Original post

My car is a 2004 Anniversary Edition wich is a C2 that has a Turbo nose on it and MKII side skirts from factory. That is why I am swapping out the C4 splitter for the more aggresive Turbo splitter and I was told to attatch the new splitter I need 15 of these rivots.

POST 23Original post

According to SSST, turbo lip is only attached by screws at the ends. Don't see any expanding rivets in the diagrams for the turbo lip either. Who told you it used 15 rivets? You sure they weren't talking about gt3 lip?

POST 24Original post

I didn't realize the 40 had the TT/4S bumper. You don't need mounting hardware. You probably have the 4S splitter, but it attaches the same way. There is a screw on each end of the splitter inside the fender well. Just remove the two screws and start pulling straight out from either end. To install the new splitter, just reverse the process. I've done it twice. It took 10 minutes the first time because I didnt know what to expect and was being really careful. Took 5 minutes the second time. Once you see how it works you will be amazed at the simplicity of it. Post a picture once its done. Good luck.

POST 25Original post

SSST, THX Amazing how much misinformation and wrong information there is out there about our cars and I spoke to 3 different Porsche dealers about :/ Anyone want to buy 15 rivets, LOL

POST 27Original post

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks 996PP! I just put on a FabSpeed MaxFlo carbon fiber intake and a B&M SSK. Waiting on my leather center console to come in from Classic 9. I agree on the coil overs. I have been tracking the car quite bit lately and really feel I need to do something. Any recommendations? Thoughts on H&R springs. vs coil overs? I have new Bilstein Heavy Duties that the previous owner put on seems a shame to toss them if I could do a good spring set.

POST 29Original post

I have PSS9's with H&R sways bars. My car is stiff as a stick but its still my daily driver. Ive heard alot of good feedback on H&R srpings. I personally like the adjustable coil overs just for the thought that they're easier to tweak to your preference if needed.
