Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, On my car one of the covers for the mechanism is missing. It is the triangular piece of plastic in this photo and all it seems to do is cover the mechanism when the roof is in the tilted open position. I have looked through the parts catalogue and cannot work out the part number. I am wondering if it is 996 564 182 00 but the image in the parts catalog doesn't look like the plastic piece that is missing. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Great, so it looks like for 996 it is 996.564.242.00 which is now replaced by the 997.564.242.00. I hate to ask but are you sure this is the right part number? I am in Australia and want to get the right part first time around. Also, do you know if it is a difficult job to fit it? Thanks for your help.

I'm 100% sure it is the correct. The 996 part number was superseded to a 997. If you give me your email address I can email you a picture of what a brand new one looks like, I think I have a couple of them at my shop. Cheers!
