Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It has 17" wheels, and I'd ask the dealer to replace with 18" wheels.

in the early models, the radio was set lower down in the console, does this sound right...?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
New member here with a couple questions before purchasing a '99 Coupe.
Can anyone point me to a list of the mid-year changes on the 99 model?
I'm aware of the change to clear headlights and taillights (from the amber).
--> But what else changed -- if anything?
I've looked at several by now, and one of them is looking attractive.
It's an early '99 Coupe, 6 speed, pristine condition with 55k miles. A one owner CA car back from lease, and appears to have been very well cared for and always garaged. Manila Beige with Tan full leather interior.
Options include:
- Sport seats
- Full leather
- Walnut wood (and leather) steering wheel, shifter, and handbrake.
It has 17" wheels, and I'd ask the dealer to replace with 18" wheels.
Asking price is $39k, and I'm considering offering $38k with the 18's.
Thoughts on this car? Does $38k sound reasonable for this one?
tia,
Dave
Hi Dave,
Welcome aboard!! Price sounds good, is that a P-car dealer? I would offer 36, and then start working upward. The market is soft. Who knows, maybe it's been sitting for a while and the dealer needs to unload. I saw a '99 go recently for 33 after is sat for a long 2 months on a lot.
Anyhow, other than lights, I'm not too aware of anything material. You must get the 18's by the way, big difference. Is it certified?
regards,
I sold a VERY similar car (with 18" wheels) just about 1 year ago for $40,500.00 It took me a while to sell it too. It only had 36,000 miles. In conclusion, yes that is way too much.
If I were buying I would look to spend $40k and get under 30k miles
Thanks for the responses.
I had two other dealers confirm today that the mid-year change was limited to the clear lenses, no mechanical changes.
I'm just not finding a lot of 996's here in So Cal in great condition, if they are they're going for closer to $50k.
Many of the cars I've seen around here with lower miles (30k - 40k) have relatively poor interior condition. (But they've all driven great!)
I may make a lowball offer on this one, but I'd also prefer a lower mileage car. My concern about mileage is less mechanical, but more around the resale value in a couple years if I rack up another 20k miles myself.
I'll let you know how it goes, or if anyone knows of a good candidate car for sale in this area, please let me know.
The SOCAL offerings have been pretty poor for the last 3 months. I just picked up a 99 in pristine condition with 34k but I had to look at a lot of cars and I probably paid too much. Good hunting
