Has anyone tried to put 997 sport seats in a 996? Taken the 996 seats into a 993? And GT3 seats into the 997? Just 3 crazy P owners with a bright idea.

The question is why woudl you want to put 997 seats in a 996? Yes they are a better designed (more agressive), but they are also heavier due to having airbags mounted in the sides. In the 996, the sie airbags are mounted in the doors and there is no provisiion to use teh seat mounted airbags. For Manual seats, the mounts should be the same, but the electrical harnesses may be different. Going the other way, 996 GT3 seats are a direct bolt-in to a 997. You just need to have the side airbags turned off in the computer.

The problem is the 996 owner does not fit (or like) the seats as much as he likes the 997 seats. However I (993 owner) have the Gt3 seats in my car, and realize the 996 seats will fit in my car. I just picked up my car and drove 1100 kms and surprisingly had a very comfortable ride in the GT3 seats. So im not interested so much anymore in the swap, however our 996 friend should just buy a 997, because those seats will not fit in the 996 according to Porsche.
