Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello all, I have just found this site on the day I bought my first Porsche. A 2001 C4. CPO 36K, Black on Black, manual. Just drove it back from the dealer. 175 miles on the highway. Then, got it home and ran it through some familiar twists. I bow down to the machine. I am now like a P junkie looking for my next fix. "When canI get back in and where can I drive it", is constantly running through my mind. Glad to find the site and see there are others with the same mindset. I have attached pictures as I do not want to upset anyone on my first post.

POST 5Original post

Nice looking ride! Go see Eric at BumperPlugs.com and get those holes in the fender covered up.

POST 6Original post

Beautiful car. Welcome aboard. Beware of the mod bug....it's highly contagious and there's no known cure.

POST 7Original post

Nice car. Got mine a few weeks ago and I can tell you enjoy it as much as I do. Every time I got out to the garage I stop and look at the car in amazement that it's there and it's mine. A dream come true.

POST 8Original post

Sweet P-car! I love the color as well. Enjoy her, drive safe. Have fun with her, since the weather has broken...

POST 10Original post

Congrats on the car and welcome to the porschefile ranks. And you even got pics on your first post and avoided the wrath of Tim.

POST 11Original post

Excellent! Great looking car, now you need clear side markers!

POST 12Original post

PJunkie - Welcome and congrats! Thanks for posting the pics! Makes my "job" a lit easier! Watch your wallet, These guys will have you considering mods you didn't even know existed! They love helping others spent their money. Oh and speaking of mods, yo might want to consider.... Bumper Plugs (already mentioned) Clear side markers (already mentioned) There is a thread here that has instructions on how to remove the amber lense in your headlights Aluminum gauge rings Aluminum pedals B&M short shifter kit (I am assuming you have a manual tranny) Install a "spoiler" switch on the dash Paint your calipers red (they would look good against your black beauty) Silver hood crest & silver steering wheel crest I guess I'll stop now, 'cuz your just about out of money! More next month! Again, congrats and welcome!

POST 13Original post

nice 996, welcome to the p land. so how did you find this site?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and lots of sound advice. I am so stoked to be driving this vehicle! Today on the way to work I got stopped by a cop going in the opposite direction coming around a twist. I had my radar detector on and nothing buzzed. He said he stopped me because, "You just looked like you were going fast" Hmmm......"looked like"? Not this time, sir. Unfortunately for me as an ex ski racer, i love to go fast. Especially in the curves. And as I am finding out this is the machine to curve in. In reply to some of the comments and questions: I found the site through a google search. The holes in the front bumber will unfortunately be where the license plate goes when it arrives. swede matt- I hear you. all the same. I have checked out the photos of all of your cars and am so pleased to be amongst this group. What gorgeous vehicles!

POST 16Original post

Welcome and nice car- you already can see that you cant spend too much time in a car that you love!

POST 17Original post

congrats and welcome...... thanks for posting a pic..... you definetely know the newbie laws....... NOW get cracking on the MODS...........

POST 18Original post

Very sharp car! Congrats and good luck, and welcome.

POST 19Original post

I second this. Join your local Porsche Club. Go to the National site http://www.pca.org/ , and then your local branch. Mine has over 500 members and there's a lot of fun activities. One is learning to drive safely at speed. You do this at the track with strict safety rules and an instructor riding with you. FUN!! Or at an autocross where you go to a local LARGE parking lot where orange traffic cones are set up to drive around, slowly at first, then as fast as you can. Again FUN!! And you'll learn a lot, and be a lot safer on the street. Enjoy your new car!

POST 20Original post

Sweet ride, like a couple of young fellows said, I was close by "look at that sick Porsche man" To bad about the front plate, require one up here too sucks but we all have 'em.... Safe driving

POST 21Original post

PJunkie - I'm NY down on LI and have gone without the front plate since last August -when I bought the car. Been pulled over three times for it - still no ticket - I keep the plate on the passenger side and when pulled over I explain that the bracket broke and I had to order a new one from the delaer - but here's the plate. Only problem is that one officer in the local precinct - the first to stop me - recently spotted me in a parking lot and mentioned out his window that he "noticed that my front plate wasn't on yet -didn't you tell me you were putting it on about 6 months ago " !! My days are probably numbered but I just can't bring myself to put it on ! In no way do I endorse or suggest anything to anyone - just a off the cuff comment or 2.

POST 22Original post

Congrats! Time to start the mods, theres no use trying to resist, you are under P car control. Enjoy and drive careful.

POST 23Original post

I'm probably going to jinx myself for posting this but since I'm a brave man I'll do it anyway.... I've never had a front plate on my Z3...and I've had it as a daily driver for many years. I've never even gotten stoped for it. Got pulled over for other stuff twice but the cops didn't even mention the missing front plate. Maybe California is more lenient with enforcing front plate laws?
