Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, Bought new to me 05 C4S with 9.7k miles full leather, Bose prem, htd seats, tip, 2 weeks ago. Always lusted after a P-car but had to make do with BMW's for many years. I love it. What a ride! Looking to do some modest mods in time.

POST 3Original post

great looking C4S, and nice camera too. congrats!!!

POST 5Original post

Nice! Welcome to Rennlist and thanks for the pics!

POST 6Original post

welcome, looks like you settled for the right color. It's a beaut! Give us your initial impressions vs. BMW.

POST 9Original post

Welcome, another Jersey C4S. The C4S is the best 996 but I'm biased. I'm a porsche/bmw guy as well.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

"welcome, looks like you settled for the right color. It's a beaut! Give us your initial impressions vs. BMW." Let me try: First I was surprised, shocked really, at the firmness of the ride right after picking it up especially over broken pavement and expansion joints. Then I slowly got adjusted to it and began to really enjoy it. Biggest differences noted: more control, you aim it and it goes there; no slop in the steering, none; Throttle tip-in is sweet especially compared to my latest BMW(335) with the annoying turbo lag. Brake modulation is exemplary. Then the engine wail at WOT!!! I thought the 335 was nice but this is great, so addictive that I sometimes play no music in the car just to hear those pipes... It sticks like glue in corners, any corner, stays in the chosen gear while cornering... It looks great. I get in it for drives for no other reason than to drive it. Hard to believe it's an '05. It is my DD and I'm looking forward to participating in autocrosses with PCA.

POST 17Original post

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 27Original post

05 c4s.... cream of the crop, very nice! Drive it like you stole it, but then again depending where in Montclair you are located....you are not far from stolen car capital.

POST 28Original post

nice car... 9.7k miles, about the same when I bought mine. I love the car!

POST 29Original post

Sharp looking with no miles, congrats and welcome. Great 1st Porsche!

POST 30Original post

Thats a good mod! I did the AVIC-Z3 with Bluetooth, Ipod and Sat. Want to do the same with my Cayenne and ditch the factory nav.

POST 33Original post

Ummmm.... ok tick tock tick tock...hello.... it's already been over 1.5 hours... where's the pics?!?@! Actually, you're missing the mandatory interior pics of the car, too! I believe you're also supposed to mention all the options that the car came with, etc. etc. etc...

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes I know. I had to get it cleaned up first. Pics coming tom. But as far as options go: tip, full leather, bi-xenons, Bose prem with CRD23, electric seats with mem. That's about it and yes those huge tires in the rear. I kind of like the spartan'ness of it compared to my old 335i in which the headlights were auto, rear view mirror self dimming (I hated them as I couldn't see details behind me) comfort access (key in the pocket)...what a crock! So many unnecessary things to go wrong eventually. I even disliked the start/stop button; what's wrong with turning a key?

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Still getting used to it, configuring the different settings for different sources as each has its own setting. It takes about 2 minutes to initialize. I'm a bit worried about the heat generated by the 2 Alpine amps in the trunk as there is little or no ventilation there. Afraid I'll suffer cut-outs in very hot weather. The pic shows my Zune connected to the Aux imput. The Ipod is in the glove box. I tend to use the Zune as I prefer its sound and it can play Ogg. The installation was clean. A bit costly(~2.2k) but really in line when you think that as an option on a new car, the Nav costs about that. Over all I'm pleased.
