Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

However, I think the unpainted black backs would be the most kid-proof and cheapest to repair/replace if something bad happens.

Suggestion

I believe they use the same paint/clearcoat process as on the exterior of the car, so it should hold up pretty well.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at two 2002 C2's both with sport seats. One has plastic back in exterior color, the other appears to be painted in soft touch black. My rambunctious 5 year old will be riding in back on occasion. Does anyone have any sense of how vulnerable to scratches these two materials are? Are there any other differences I should be aware of. Thanks much.

POST 2Original post

I have a painted console, which is essentially the same process as painting the seat back. While I don't have any rambunctious kids, the console has held up well to every day wear and tear so far. I believe they use the same paint/clearcoat process as on the exterior of the car, so it should hold up pretty well. However, I think the unpainted black backs would be the most kid-proof and cheapest to repair/replace if something bad happens. Karl
