Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'door handle or door latch switch is the problem' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check carpet dampness and particularly' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I was having some problems with my keys, and I reset the memory position of the seats.

Suspected cause
If the car is dry, then because the behavior is modifed by opening/closing the door this suggests to me a switch probably the door handle or door latch switch is the problem.

Check for carpet dampness and particularly under the seats, the passenger seat as the security module is located under it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I send the key to be looked at, microswitches were fine and some bits got soldered but it's made no difference.
Having issues with key fob.
I'll go for a drive, unlock the car with the fob. Go for a drive and get to my destination, get out shut the door and I wont be able to lock the car. If I go into the car and shut the door then It will let me lock it all of a sudden. Or if I leave the car unlocked and walk off and come back 10 mins ill be able to lock it straightaway.
I send the key to be looked at, microswitches were fine and some bits got soldered but it's made no difference. Battery was changed too.
When I can't lock the car, the red light is flashing on the remote but on the car the red light isn't flashing. Obviously when it is working both red lights are flashing as they should.
So I think I can rule out the remote being the issue. What else could cause this? I can't see anything else that is consistent.
I was having some problems with my keys, and I reset the memory position of the seats. This is from an '03 manual.
The entire instructions begin on ~p.16 to 35. You can check the index.
Also, if you happen to have a cab with the Smarttop or RemoteTop installed, you may check to see if something has come loose with that.
Might be worth a try... Good luck!
Still haven't looked into this further due to time of year but I found something interesting yesterday.
Got out the car and couldn't lock it, red light on dash was doing nothing, key was flashing red.
I immediately opened the door and the car red light and key red light began talking. Shut the door and again, unresponsive. Opened the door and responsive.
What on earth could cause that?
First thought is there is water in the cabin. Blocked body water drains most often are the reason.
Check for carpet dampness and particularly under the seats, the passenger seat as the security module is located under it.
Check the doors for any dampness along their bottoms. Give each one a shake listening for any water sloshing sounds. The window seals can leak and allow water to collect in the door. Electrical gremlins appear though often the windows act up.
If the car is dry, then because the behavior is modifed by opening/closing the door this suggests to me a switch probably the door handle or door latch switch is the problem.
A tech with the proper diagnostics computer can scan the car's electronic systems specifically the security system for an error codes which if any are present can point to the cause.
