Any used Porsche is going to cost you money initially as you get it where you want it in terms of maintenance and condition.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been in talks with a private seller who wants $49,000 for his 996 2003 Turbo. He seems to be set on his price and I am not sure if it is worth it. Please see the attached PPI and you can view his add below. Please feel free to chime in with an opinion

Nice PPI... appears very thorough! This thing was clearly not babied. I am no expert, but if this is the first owner did he disclose to you in advance the bodywork in the bondo area that was discovered in PPI? if not, and assuming the factory would not do that, I would walk hands down and be glad it only cost you $300 to make your decision. If he failed to disclose the faults, his character is faulty and who knows what else was not disclosed that PPI cannot see!
There was an article in recent Excellence about over-revs... Range 2's were a decent while ago so maybe all is ok with the stout Mezger engine, but may preclude you from any goodwill help should you have engine trouble down the road? I'm guessing on that, so someone more knowledgeable than I needs to wade in.
Good luck and thanks for sharing the PPI... when I got mine all I got was a verbal report, granted I only paid $150...
That is a good, thorough PPI. Seems like full money for a less than perfect car.
But for a better price, probably not a bad car to start with. Any used Porsche is going to cost you money initially as you get it where you want it in terms of maintenance and condition.
yeah, the seller never disclosed bondo. I found out through car fax, the car was in new york for 7 years, seller is third owner, I am going to repost in 996 turbo
This is why many of us stress the importance of a thorough PPI by a reputable party
. With the issues it has including the bondo, inspite of the low mileage, stay away from east coast cars. There are too many cars on the market right now to pay such a high premium for an inferior vehicle. Run from this one and find yourself a good car. To me, half of the fun is the shopping
, good luck and keep us posted
