Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hi guys. Just picked up a new to me immaculate 2003 996. Looks as it did back then. I am looking for a good independent shop here in san diego. I would like to update/replace the IMS and new clutch while in there. I can do an internet search obviously but am looking for firsthand experience recommendations. What other while your in there items should I consider. thanks and ill post pix tomorrow.
Hey Bterry,
Here's three recommendations:
I live in North County (Oceanside) and have a 2003 C2. I had my indy do the IMSB and a bunch of other stuff. He's not cheap, and he may drive you nuts (he's got a millions stories), but work quality is top notch.

Ask for the owner, Denny.
Also, Black Forest Automotive is top notch:

They do my tech inspections for track events.
I have a pretty long laundry list of "while you're in there" stuff to replace for a 10 year old car (hoses, water pump, AOS, plugs, etc.).
Send me a PM if you need any additional info.
Another vote for Black Forest. They kept my 1980 911 SC going past 375,000 miles. I now have a 2002 996 which I take to Black Forest. Very knowledgeable, very honest, reasonable prices.
