I have mixed feelings about selling it, but it was the right time for me to do it.
Leading evidence: 'right time' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'right time' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well guys, the day has come. It's gone and after sweeping out the garage my TT has found a new home (that's my Audi TT, not a new Porsche TT
) Car's enroute to Michigan as we speak, being transported by Thomas Sunday out of Mechanicsberg, PA. Terrific folks to deal with - as opposed to the "Un-Reliable" guys who never showed up!! Here are my farewell pics. Now onto my next project - 997S? 987S? Motorcycle? I'll stay on the board and keep you posted. Hopefully, the new owner will add his post to this thread! He's a terrific guy - treat him at least as well as you treat me.
I'll tell you this, he's getting a perfect 4S.
Alas poor C4S, we knew thee not well enough.
That car is about to travel more miles in one trip for the first time since it left Germany.
Thanks for posting!
Don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.
It really is. I have mixed feelings about selling it, but it was the right time for me to do it.
And believe me, there will be one. Not sure what yet, but thinking about it, then hunting for it is more than half the fun. It will either be another roadster/vert or a motorcycle.
Congrats on the sale Phil, and good luck on the search for the next toy.
One suggestion: Get something you don't mind driving from time to time!
- Hans
How did it feel to see that guy touch the paint when he got in the door
I would have asked him to take the car off the truck and go learn the propper way to treat such a thing of beauty
He has 10 years experience and was on his way to collect 2 Ferraris for transport. Good guy and very careful with the car. He covered the seats before moving it onto the truck. If I was the new owner I might have been more concerned about his touching the paint, but he was super careful getting it onto the truck. Should be in new owner's hands tomorrow.
Strange! I was JUST going to post something similar, starting with alas and referenceing Hamlet! Great minds, I guess!
Did I miss what Dr. Phil will be buying in it's place? Or is the TT now it?
Phil,
Sad day and sad pics!
Maybe it is a good thing that I wasn't able to buy your car, because I would have hit the rev limiter 5 or 6 times the first day and driven her like I stole her! You would have cringed at my posts of how well she pulls at high revs!
Seriously - since you are "into" Cabs and TT's, I think you should look for an '07 or '08 997 TT Cab. The best of both worlds for you and the prices are really down at this time. I am serious! You need to think about this as a viable option. You would probably like it so much that you would sell the Audi TT and actually drive the 997 TT.
We need to talk.
It really was a sad day. The car is great and I just didn't use it to its rightful potential. I drive the TT everywhere and really like having a convertible as a daily commuter. If I were to go the Porsche route again, I would likely go for a 997S rather than a TT. For now, taking a break. Other than to get a motorcycle permit next week when I'm back from Vermont.
After you get the motorcycle permit, maybe you can walk down the hall and pick up some "filing for divorce" instructions for your wife! It would save her a trip to the courthouse!
Tim, you have obviously met my wife. But my strategy could be my ticket to a newer Porsche cab since she's so against my getting a bike. There is a method to my madness.
you know this could be a lose-lose situation because the alternate possibility that you have not considered that in addition to her not letting you get the bike or the Porsche she could just knee you in the nuts and then divorce you.
so you sold her...how many miles did she have on her...I remember seeing so many posts from the fellas about the lack of your driving her. It is better that she will be driven...LOL
GL luck with your new search.
instead of getting another Porsche to sit in the garage and not drive... how about I give you mine...
you can say... "look how many miles I have driven" to both your friends, and you can buy me the new one... after I rack up 50K miles on it and we swap back.....
no one has to know but us
ITs funny, as much time as I've spent on sport bikes over the years, no one close to me (aside from my one buddy who still rides seriously) wants me to ride one anymore, unless it's a big custom. Even guys who should be egging me on talk about Roethlisberger and Jason Williams all day long.
So I'm going to live through you on this one, get the bike Phil!
(although that Audi R8 convertible is coming out isn't it? That might be a nice way to stay married and get rid of the Audi TT)
You guys are NOT going to believe this. The car is to be delivered to its new home in Michigan today. I just spoke with the buyer. Yes, folks he fell off his ladder last night while cleaning out his garage in preparation for the Porsche's arrival and injured his ankle to the point that he can't put any weight on it. He's on crutches and he's got to have his wife put the car away in the garage for him. OMG - this car is CURSED!! It's determined not to have anyone drive it or have any miles put on it. If I didn't hear the story from the owner's mouth, I simply wouldn't believe it!!! Maybe I got rid of it just in time.

I really feel bad for the guy. He's been like a kid in a candy shop just waiting for the car to arrive. Now that it's due to be delivered this afternoon, he can't even get into it, let alone drive it!
< Tim whispers so Phil's wife can't hear >
yeah, if that happened before he received the car, then what's going to happen to you the day your are supposed to get a motorcycle? I already know that if that "incident" (whatever it may be) does not kill you, your wife will complete the job!
Go on, blame it on the poor car - I'll bet you blame your mother and father for your faults also! Poor thing - it just didn't deserve you. I guess that poor car was made on a crappy rainy day and Stuttgart and things never just got better for it... I'm thinking that it needs to be traded in as a clunker and put out of it's misery.
That would be more like it.
she is mad at you for all those years of neglect followed by being kicked to the curb...
<Imagining the scene from "the car" when it jumps thru the house> dont go downstairs Phil... your car is coming to get you next !
Wayne - of course I blame my mother and father for my being a misfit. Who the hell else should I blame? Moi??
Car didn't get delivered today - apparently the driver was held up in PA picking up a Ferrari. Scheduled to arrive in MI tomorrow. Hopefully the new owner can at least sit in it if not drive it.
I'm sad for you.
I never had to sale a car I do love before, and just took the decision to sale the track car. I fear the day one of you guys will come with a truck and take her. Damned, I already hate that guy
!
Good luck with the hunt...
It sounds like it's in good hands, just not a good ankle. He'll drive it when he can walk again when he can bear weight on it! He took a really nasty fall from around 8 feet off his ladder.
Last year I went cherry picking and the ladder I was on folded up causing me to fall from about 6 feet. I landed upside down. The first thing to hit the ground was my hand (bent backwards) and all my weight pounded on top of it causing my wrist to bend in a very bad way. I dont think I will ever fully recover - I was in serious pain for over 3 months and still have pain issues with it.
I hope his recovery is not like mine has been
Sounds like he'll be OK - he has a motivator in his garage to get him back on his feet! He's also joined RL, so you'll be able to mock him instead of mocking me!!
Absolutely - do you think I'm going anywhere. Oh yeah, the day my Porsche leaves, my brother puts a deposit down on a new '08 RS60. Connection? Sibling rivalry? I figure that after 6 months when he puts 200 miles on it, I'll get it for $40K. They're pretty nice - and a cab to boot (no pun intended).
I bet he's scared to post -
" Hi guys, new to RL... just bought a car that was never driven - and I cant drive it - here are some pics that were taken 3 years ago when the car had 14 less miles on it, not much has changed in those 14 miles.. well there is a piece of gum stuck in one of the tires"
OK that was mean - sorry
Lemmee see - he bought and sold a perfectly good C2S, now wants to buy an over-rated Boxster that he's not going to drive?
I can see how this is going to end.
Um, let me see. Yep - that would just about sum it up. He sold an '08 C2S with 500 miles that he kept for 6 months and was factory ordered. The RS60 may end up in my garage at a very, very good price.
But, seriously I'm taking a break from any toys. Not sure I would want the Boxster, but I do like the RS60 - nice car.
No longer. He took it out
on the expressway
today!! Loved it BTW. But, it may have gotten bug splattered. When the new owner posts, I'll do the intros!
My father-in-law took me for a drive today and we hit 3502 miles on the odometer. I did take some pictures of the delivery and although it was dark out, the flash lit the place up. Phil was a real pleasure to deal with and a true gentleman in spite of what you say. I must also extend a special thank you to Bill, whose advice, hand holding, and experience made this deal possible. Hugh
Welcome! We look for forward to seeing the car in it's new environment.
We hope you love the car as much as Phil does, but please drive it more than he did!
Yes everyone! Hugh is the new owner of my C4S. He (and his friend Bill in TN who helped to broker the deal) are both gentlemen. The transaction went flawlessly and the car is truly in good hands. I warned Hugh that some of you can be less than forgiving of those who do not drive their cars as they are meant to be driven. After my discussions with him [note he's put all of 8 miles on the car since I sold it to him] you may have hit paydirt with this new, first-time Porsche owner!!
HEY!!! I resemble that remark!
Hugh,
Welcome to Rennlist! Contrats on acquiring the "fine museum piece!"
Hopefully, your ankle will heal soon and you can begin to drive it like you stole it!
If you find that it is not a fast as you anticipated it would be, check the inside of the wheel wells and remove 4 years of cobwebs that have accumulated there. They can offer a lot more resistance that you would think and can inhibit the wheels from turning freely.
