Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wondered if Porsche had ever offered a clear glass (or tinted) sunroof? I enjoy this feature on our Subaru Legacy. It lets in a fair bit of light even when closed. My 996 has a black interior and sometimes seems like a cave. Has anyone seen such a thing? Maybe an aftermarket conversion? ...Rickker

They're dark.

Nope. I like my faux suede headliner!! You could always... open it?

Of course they do. They call it the Targa . However, it might be a bit more sunshine than you had in mind.

POST 6Original post

Yeah..nope. It does sound like the targa is the car for you though.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ah yes, a Targa would be nice. I wasn't thinking about changing cars at this time though.

Too bad nobody makes a 'clear' replacement s/r Alternatively - tastefully fab yours to include a glass center. My wife's 95' Impalla SS came with a "dealer-installed" glass sunroof and for all the years she had it - it was flawless and VERY cool. It did not have the tilt option, but it was really nice. Whoever performed the install were professionals and should be given medals. BTW: that 4000 lb Impalla consistently embarrassed a lot of porchees and bimmers between stoplights - unbelievable. She misses it - sorry for the 'jack.

POST 9Original post

I don't think the glass would be allowed on the track. Just a guess though.
