Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have been checking around everywhere, so far I noticed there are several options for the PIG with the PCM in the Cayenne.

This allows me to check the parking space for obstruction before parking and just drive head out after.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am looking forward to swapping out my becker for a Kenwood DNX-9140 in the 996. I would like to add a back-up camera during install. My understanding is that the following is preferable:
1. Mirror or reverse image capabilities
2. great than 90 degrees - prefer 110 - 120
3. CCD is better than CMOS
4. Night visions is important, especially if I go with color camera
I would appreciate any thoughts on the above or suggestions for brands/models that others recommend. Thanks -

But it will allow me to drive frontwards
and backwards
at excessive speeds - - seriously, I knew I would draw some comments if I failed to explain - I have a long drive way surrounded by cobblestone walls. The highest point is about 7 feet closest to the garage which is built into a hill. Most people do k-turns to get out of the driveway b/c of its odd shape and the walls. Perhaps a needless mod to some, but when installing the headunit it seemed just as easy to gain an additional vantage point so i don't reverse too far into the wall like my wife and I have both done in her BMW. Essentially, I see it like this - backup camera - $50...... installation - an extra hour and some sweat...... decreasing the risk that I won't have to pay someone to professionally touchup the bumper while I profusely weep - priceless -

Jeremy,
Fair enough you know we are just goofing with you.
Don't now much about camera's, sorry. But I have a Double din Pioneer nav in my 996, you will really enjoy the upgrade!
Thanks Marc - I am pretty sure I read a post about your double-din - just don't recall whether you fell into the you need to update speakers or upgrading the HU is best start camp -

R u gonna do this yourself, or have a pro put it in?
I would check crutchfield for cameras. I think the higher end ones are pretty good. No brand names to give you, just buy the fanciest one.
My buddy put one in 2 yrs ago and it's great, even at night. I'm sure the technology is much better now.
medtech - I plan on installing myself - with the threads on this and other 996 forums it doesn't seem beyond my abilities... just need the right camera.
Robin 993dx - I will keep you posted.
PIG = Cayenne
Behind the F-car in the picture.
I have been checking around everywhere, so far I noticed there are several options for the PIG with the PCM in the Cayenne.
(1). Wired camera + rearview mirros with built in LCD screen
(2). Wireless camera, but need to find a video source to plug the receiver into
(3). Tapping into the PCM directly, which interrups the LCD display when switched to reverse. Very low tech method but works
(4). Wired reverse camrea with a separate LCD screen.
So far nothing have really got me excited.
I am in the other camp where I always back into parking spaces. This allows me to check the parking space for obstruction before parking and just drive head out after. I really like this in the winter or bad weather since visibility is so limited to begin with.
