They want to replace just one and the others have 18,000 miles on them...should I put up a fight?

Your Toyota manual should indicate what's appropriate--but most likely, replacing the pair is best.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry for the OT, but this is the only place I visit on here...LOL...This about my Toyota Highlander Hybrid AWD...So the car is in the shop because the SRS airbag sensor failed (throwing a CEL)...took the car in last Friday. They diagnosed and got the parts in today. The dealers's technician went for a test ride and ran over something and blew the tire out (not repairable). They want to replace just one and the others have 18,000 miles on them...should I put up a fight? Would you replace just one with the tread wear differences? Let me know your thoughts. TIA
BTW, I called three different Toyota dealers and got three different answers from their techs...LOL
No, you should replace two tires at a minimum. Tell them that the tires are rated as 40K mile tires (or whatever they actually are rated) and that you are only getting 50% mileage out of them because of their screw up. Tell them you will be willing to pay for the second tire
but at their COST
, and don't let them charge any mounting/balancing fees for either tire.
If they don't take that (which I think is fair) then go up the ladder to the regional rep.
Tim's right. They f'd up. You need at least 2 tires, not just one. And I wouldn't pay for the 2nd one - they should. I would email or write to the service manager, owner, and if needed, regional rep to explain what happened, and your expectations for replacement, mounting and balancing of tires. This transaction shouldn't cost you a dime, IMO.
Your Toyota manual should indicate what's appropriate--but most likely, replacing the pair is best.
However, you did get half the use out of the 2nd tire. Assuming they can mount & balance it, paying half of their cost seems fair.
