I admit I have never done it (replaced the motor mounts but I have let the motor rest on the cross member between the engine and trans) but I am quite sure it is simple.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anybody know of a good write-up for the engine mount replacement? I have the factory 996-C2 manual but cant find a procedure for it. Thanks,

POST 2Original post

I admit I have never done it (replaced the motor mounts but I have let the motor rest on the cross member between the engine and trans) but I am quite sure it is simple. First, I would remover the airbox before doing anything else below. 1) I would put a jack with a wide board under the engine sump and just take the weight of the engine off of the body. 2) Pull out the motor mount bolts from the bottom side. Bolt head faces down. (***BE CAREFUL, if the jack is not carrying the load enough, once the bolts release completely, the engine will come down hard on the jack. I know, I've done it ) 3) Once the bolts are out, you can let the engine down and rest on the crossmember between the engine and trans. (Dont worry, it can hold it but do this easily to make sure no lines wil be ripped) 4) Once it sits on the cross member, there are 2-3 bolts per mount. Simply remove and replace the motor mounts and reverse the procedure.
