Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. The last M3 I had, I installed a fully adjustbale racing suspension and some engine doodads.

But I can certainly understand your circumstances, and at the end of the day its just another car which will be replaced with just another car.

Also check to see if the motor has been replaced by BMW, and if so, that it has the extended warranty that should come with the replacement.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks all. There is no way you guys are going to get rid of me though. I am building my DIY library every day. I still have all my manuals and materials on how to fix the 996. So ask away...
Looks like I looking to pick up a BMW E46 M3 coupe. I need the back seat and the room. With 330hp, there is plenty of go for those track weekends.
Chad
that was quick! didn't you get the 996 early december?
HA! i guess you didn't see in my earlier track thread that i was pulling away from an e46 m3 in my plain jane 996
just kidding man! i am jealous 'cause i want that car too but the wife won't allow 2 car payments
one thing, careful with m3 engine mods, scratch that don't do any engine mods. these m3 engines are widely known to grenade, much more serious than an RMS
. do your research avoid the 2001 and early 2002 models.
good luck dude!
Chad - You had better stick around!!! We're not going to let you get away that easy. Post pics of the M3 when youget it! If you don't, we'll come to East Bumble, MO (where ever the hell that is) and make you UN-DO a MOD on our P-cars, while wearing your PIONTY helmit.
It's Bimmer not Beamer. Bimmer is the car, Beamer is the motorcycle..........Lets get it right ......
Good luck with it.... Any chance it's a light wieght?
My boss got an 2002 E46 M3. I test drove it with him. The car is much roomier in the back. However, everything from engine, brake, interior quality were no match to 996. SMG is better than Tip though. I'm sold on SMG. With some minor mods, M3 can be improved. At its price, it's a value and in comparison to a C6 vette, it's better a better balance in performance and refinement.
Good for you, man....whatever makes you and your family happy.
How are we going to ifnd you on those days when you're at your desk, and have a little time to spare, to do some of your graphic magic?
regards,
richard
Chad if you need M3 hook ups, we have a Laguna Seca at the shop SMG and know a ton on the car. Rob the owner will gladly take care of you...
Let me know!
Here is a pic of our M3 - girl not included
Thanks Nick. Nah...Not when I get done with it.
The last M3 I had, I installed a fully adjustbale racing suspension and some engine doodads. She was putting out about 305hp at the fly and smoked MANY at the track. In fact, I lapped a guy in a Camaro SS (351 hp on the ground). That was certainly fun. With 330hp out of the box, I am not sure how I can contain myself.
cheers,
C.
Hahaha... that's 330hp at 8,000rpm though. You've got to keep that thing tach'd up to get everything out of it.
Don't get me wrong it's a nice car but it's no 911... of course I'm biased
Hey Chad. What a shame with the 996, but then again you did not say anything about for how long you will keep the M3 until you get back to the Porsche family ;-)
Surfing around on the 996 forum here and see all that beutiful grafik you have made, makes me hope that you will still find some time to do some of you grafik magic.
PS. Well I dont know where my sig picture is now....It used to be here, have there been any changes to the forum or what ?? I cant even find the place where I can upload it ?
Chad,
Glad to hear that you found a buyer for the car and I hop you got what you were wanting. The M3 is great car. I've a number of friends who have one and just love 'em.
Chad,
You should have kept the 911 and added the M3 to the family......
What am I saying.... I will end up selling the M3 this Summer.... "I think"...
Good Luck with your new found 333 HP beast..... The E46 is a nice looking vehicle.

Good luck Chad...you're going the wrong way, though, you're supposed to go FROM M3 to 996, not the other way around!
If you're buying a used one, make sure it has all of the engine recalls done. There have been more than a few engine failures (hmmmm, just like the 996). Also check to see if the motor has been replaced by BMW, and if so, that it has the extended warranty that should come with the replacement.
Good luck, they're very capable cars, as you know.
Oh yeah...I think I found one in Louisiana. Low miles and has had the recall work performed. Still under warranty too.
All in all, I maded an offer to the guy down there. I will hear back from him this evening. If this M3 does not go through, I will likely simplify further and go after a VW R32. That's right, a VW. Neat little car with the mod capability to go VERY fast. I believe HPA motorsports is getting 500whp from this little lunchbox on steroids. So, that's the deal. M3 or R32. We'll see. Either way, money in the bank and a sweet little track blaster in garage.

Chad
M3's yep...apples to apples to the 996. The R32's high twenties. But the mods (relative mods) are cheaper. Lookin for a bang for the bck kinda ride to tie me over till I buy my purpose track car.
Chad
Hey Chad: Sad to see your beautiful 996 go. But I can certainly understand your circumstances, and at the end of the day its just another car which will be replaced with just another car.
But what we will certainly miss (which I hope we don't) is a true gentleman in this forum. So due keep in touch with the forum, especially for pics of when your greatest gift in life arrives, and whenever you're feeling kinda bored don't forget to offer us to make some cool sigs for us.
Cheers and best of luck!
