This will be quite a step up for me power wise from 2 lux sedans, so large performance increases probably won't happen until I'm comfortable with the new power- probably a few months....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all. I'm quite new here having only posted one thread before, but am quickly becoming an avid follower and devout forum junkie. I'm hoping to seal the deal on a '01 cab in about 6 weeks and the wait is absolutely ferocious. I think I'll make it, as long as everything in the deal holds up (long story), but in the meantime I've been eyeing all of the mods out there- both performance and asthetic. I don't think I've been so excited about a car in a while. So, here's my question for you... With all the mods for the 996 (c2 cab in this case) which are you "must have" and best "bang for the buck?" For all intents and purposes, let's assume a bone-stock car for this exercise since I'm not 100% sure about all of the options on "my" car yet. So, what are your thoughts? By the way- I LOVE the forum and can't wait to officially join you.

POST 3Original post

Agreed. But warning, once you do your first DE, be prepared for the worst. That's when your addiction KICKS in. Oh, and clear markers are required for 996s before you start any sort of modding ANd, what? No pics of the ride? C'mon you know the rules

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These quick responses only feed my developing addiction! OK, I'm apologizing upfront for this... What is "DE?" And Evo, don't worry- I'll be posting pics ASAP when she's actually in the garage- well, ASAP after I hit it with the PC. Still have a few more weeks before all is said and done... hopefully.

POST 5Original post

DE = drivers education = time on the track to really push your car

POST 6Original post

What Jeff and Jon said. I've had my 04 C2 for 8 months now and agree with what has been said. My exhaust is the Porsche PSE and sounds great. Hope the deal goes through for you.,,Ps. I bought the clear markes that Jon refers to before I got the car home.......and what Jon says about DE, pushing your car for EDUCATIONAL purposes only. DE events are not timed and are not competitive but a great way to learn what your car is capaible of....

POST 7Original post

Mods. fall into two categories aesthetic and performance (to over-simplify). Performance (Types IMHO): Chip (GIAC) SSK (B&M) Exhaust (Europipes) Tires (PS2) Suspension (PSS9) Intake (EVO) Aesthetics: Wheels (HRE) Interior mods. like aluminum or CF (rings, pedals, etc.) Spoiler Exterior Body (too many) This is way too much fun! Enjoy $.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, now DE makes MUCH more sense! That's been my plan for the next car ever since doing performance delivery on my wife's BMW last November. I'm hooked. Still trying to leave this as open for opinions and personalization as possible so please give me any and all feedback that you can think of, but for my own purposes this car will become the daily driver within 6 months or so. Here are my thoughts with some planning time left. Creature comforts will probably take first precidence, even though I know that speak is near heracy here... I'm not sure whether or not the car has heated seats, so I'll definitely be aftermarketing them if they are not installed. This will be quite a step up for me power wise from 2 lux sedans, so large performance increases probably won't happen until I'm comfortable with the new power- probably a few months.... well, at least weeks. SSK is definitely happening early on. The V1 will definitely be hardwired right away and I plan on doing the garage door mod for the garage and gate. "Wing" button will also be done, if it's not there. I'm also a huge fan of tint, so I'll be getting that done pretty quickly. I am pretty sure that there isn't an aero kit on the car, so I'd love to add the side skirts at some point in time. Stereo and speaker upgrades will probably come pretty quickly. New wheels are definitely on the agenda, but may take a little while to come to fruition- lowered appropriately, of course. And now, for the exhaust... I'm not sure if PSE is on the car, but if not I'll probably add something. I'm not sure on what, though, as I've got a very limited experience with the exhaust notes in person so far. K&N filter will go in pretty early in the process and I'll probably also do the "orange plug" mod too= both are pretty dirt cheap and seem to have great impacts- even if the plug mod is only some sound. Those are my first blush at things, but I'm really open to just about everything out there- hence, the reason for starting this thread. All of you opinions and help are sincerely appreciated. I can't emagine what it is going to be like to actually own the car; I'm pretty giddy now just thinking about it.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

oh yeah, clears and bumper plugs will be waiting for her in the garage! Maybe the Carrera GT key fob, too, just b.c I think it's sooo d@mn cool!

POST 10Original post

Start from the ground up. Tires, suspension, and SSK. Stick with OEM Porsche parts if possible. It always helps to have the factory behind your modifications in case of warranty work or litigation after an accident. Just $.02.
