Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1. Should I paint my brake calipers red? (AS/BLK C2) How hard is it?? 2. How long are the Heated seat wires? (ie-want to move to upper console) 3. How do I remove "batwing"? 4. Rebadge from "Carrerra" to "911", black or AS?? 5. Need more bass, plug and play options?? Any info/opinions??

POST 2Original post

First best mod, join Rennlist as a member. :-)

POST 4Original post

#3 just pull leather side panels off from the rear and the batwing just pulls out. And yes it would be nice if you could help support our site!

POST 5Original post

#5 depends on which model yr (analog or MOST) and wether you have Bose option or not. Badge is a personally preference. I like my black Carrerra just fine. AS stands out more which isn't my taste. Black caliper can be painted but that doesn't impress anyone unless you own a Mitsubishi or Honda.

POST 6Original post

I changed from a black "Carrera" script to the silver. On darker cars the black does not show up well. See my avitar to see how the silver looks.

POST 7Original post

If you can swing the cash forget cheap a** paint and buy the real deal. I bought my calipers new from B-Wine for about $1200 and sold my black ones for about $600. Net money spent was $600 and so worth it since the calipers should be red on these bad boys anyway (except for the yellow PCCB sets). If you paint them yourself they WILL look cheap and they will not last. My calipers still look as new as the day I installed them. Why? Factory painted. BTW, my 2 best mods were joining this site b/c of all the money it saved me! Always has somebody that can point you in the right direction for the best deal. My other best mod was going to every DE event I could to get better and better behind the wheel.

POST 8Original post

don't poo poo on the caliper paint so easily. several people including my speed shop thought it was the real deal. they have been durable and have not discolored (yet?). after a track day they are still shiny and bright red. after a year of tracking then maybe this won't be the case . at any rate the rear painted looks as good as the front powder coated (they maybe even painted) stoptech. they key is having the skills. i have great hand skills (used to make prototype models) so my job came out great (pat on back). the other key is to spray the logo rather than using vinyl stickers on them. nice huh?

POST 9Original post

Not a bad finish at all. However, I would have removed the calipers from the car as well as the retaining pin, pads, bleed screw, pistons, etc. and made it look as professional as possible (since you do have the skill to do it). Not bad but could have been better.

POST 10Original post

that would be the correct way to do it but i thought that no one would ever see then insides of the caliper. ya i should have masked the pin and the hydraulic tube but IZ A LAZY BASTID.

POST 11Original post

Actually the hydro tube is painted on the facotry ones. So the only thing would be the pin (and the insides which nobody saw till just now )

POST 12Original post

Carlos, how did you spray the logo? Did you use a stencil or something? I may have a brake upgrade on the horizon. I wonder if my red rear Boxster S calipers would have fit yours?

POST 13Original post

hey there, maybe we can do a bay area caliper paint fest, just kidding . i used high temp caliper spray paint from autozone. they have several colours. i got the caliper decals from ebay and specifically requested the mask (the opposite of the decal. i used it as a stencil/mask then sprayed silver paint lightly. i used silver high temp paint, autozone didn't have white. actually, i like the affect. i thought boxster S calipers came straight from the 996 (not S, those are turbo brakes).

POST 14Original post

I think the brakes are the same, but the Porsche part numbers are different. The difference, of course, could be that one is black and the other is red? Were the stencils you got from XenonMods.com for like $10? Was the size the same as stock?

POST 15Original post

that's the guy. the decals were slightly bigger than stock. overall maybe 5mm longer. so you are putting s calipers on your boxster?
