Well, the seller came through; and I bought and installed a used '02 TT front diff. Car is back to normal thank God.

I removed the shaft on my C4S at one point to try it. No PSM or ECU problems. However, with a 2WD config, an LSD in the rear would have been perfect instead of the open rear diff.
