Apparently I suck at backing using my mirrors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup. The perfect end to a perfect Sunday, I curbed a wheel at Wawa. I'd like to try to fix it myself like I've seen on the interwebz. Does anyone know for sure if Sport Classic II rims are clear powdercoated? I can't tell.

POST 2Original post

It happens to all of us. I haven't done it to the pcar yet, but I've done it before and it always makes me wince, like someone cut off a digit. Good luck.

POST 7Original post

HMMM, never heard of it....now i know what WaWa is.... cant wait to tell someone else and look smart

POST 8Original post

I thought maybe it was a track somewhere. That really sucks curbing your wheel at a sandwich shop.

I know, right? The whole story sucks even more. I was mowing my fields in Pennsylvania and drove the tractor into a ground hog hole. It caught me by surprise and pinched a nerve in my neck. When I was all done mowing, I went to Wawa to get a soda for the ride back to Maryland. I was backing into an end spot so I wouldn't get hit with a door, but I couldn't turn around to back up because of my neck. Apparently I suck at backing using my mirrors. So...does anybody know if these wheels are powdercoated? Wait...you guys don't have Wawa???

POST 10Original post

Sorry. Can't help you on the Powder coat question. I live in Texas. Do you really think anything named Wawa would have a chance here? On the plus side, you have a tractor, so that gives you some cred for a yankee. BTW. hope you neck feels better. I manage to pinch a nerve in my neck about twice a year or so and it really sucks. I find Advil and red wine help a lot though.

Yeah it's a '38 John Deere Model B. My Dad learned to drive on it when he was eight. I thought it would be cool to restore it and use it. It'll beat your friggin' brains in after a few hours of work.

POST 12Original post

Cool tractor My pop lives in the city but always wanted an "A" JD so he bought one and pots around town and an occational parade in it. Kids love to go with him on it

POST 13Original post

Having a lot of fun at work talking about Wawa. The guy in the. Next cube was born a mile from Wawa headquarters and has never heard of them, lots of good water cooler talk today - thanks!

POST 14Original post

Sorry to hear about your incident. To answer your question about the clear coat, if they are similar to the "Sport Design" wheels the machined lip is clear coated. I'm not sure if it's a powdercoat finish or not. I did have one of mine refinished, and it was about $125 to have the rim straightened, re-machined and clear coated here in Toronto.

POST 15Original post

never heard of Wawa either out West. We do have have Fatburger though. As far as your wheels go, My standard Porsche Boxster twists are clearcoated over paint.

POST 16Original post

Livin' on the left coast have you ever heard of Boost or Tastkake?

POST 17Original post

WaWa is only in the Pennsylvania/Maryland region - but they are expanding a bit to the Raleigh area in North Carolina. I still go there when I visit the inlaws but they're not nationwide by any means. As for curbing the wheel. I did the same thing a few weeks ago pulling into my parking garage at work. Now I take a really WIDE turn to get in!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tastycake FTW! OK, so I'm going to attempt to repair the rim myself. If I can locate my camera (which may or may not have been stolen out of my work car at a parking garage) I'll document it...and that's if it comes out well. If not, I'll tell you where I got it fixed and how much. Thanks for all the responses. Pats or Genos? That's the real question...

POST 19Original post

Really cool tractor. I have a mid 70's Deer at the ranch, but it's not all shiny and perdy like yours. They will beat you up though.

I have a '68 Deere also, a 2030. It has a front end loader, which is very useful. It's an ugly bastard though, so I don't have any pictures of it.

I thought you got to work out and about in a shop making things, not in a cube.

POST 24Original post

I have a desk...I spend about a 1/3 of my time programming CNC machines and its nice to be out of the shop for that...plus it gives me a place to hang Porsche pictures, models and some family junk

They have Piggly Wiggly in South Carolina too. I remember stopping at one on the way to Myrtle Beach to buy some batteries and bread. Not what I would call an upscale supermarket.

Deeres suck, International is where it's at. j/k I only know about them because my ex gf's father was a diehard International fan and had about 20 fully restored tractors in his warehouse. He was always talking smack about the Deere's. How bad is the damage? Maybe you can get by with one of these?

POST 27Original post

WOW.. I have redone 3 sears tractors for customers.. Here's a motor. You did Great. Tough tough work... I'm not doing it again, unless for a Friend for Free!! Nice Trac! Good News / Bad News on Wheels. I have redone 10 Million S/Bike Wheels. There is a Coating on some... but when you try to fix one... eeehhh.. sometimes better to polish the rim ring on all 4 , so they be da same, wear the same, etc.!! Where are U located? Happy to help or do em!!! PICS would help! But shipping costs??? Hummm. Not looking to make a penny. PM me if you want to discuss the specifics of doing it!. I have a few ideas.

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I'm definitely going to try it myself. The rash isn't really bad. The problem is that the SCII wheels don't have a lip, they have a face - if that makes sense. I have to blend the damage into the face as opposed to just smooting and polishing the lip. I was going to get cracking on it yesterday, but I'm remodeling the garage and I never got to the car.
