Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've been told this washer is installed upside down.
Leading evidence: 'Install upside down' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install upside down' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can anyone take a picture of their rear RoW strut that looks similar to this one (zoomed in too)? An iPhone picture is fine.
You see the arrow is pointing to the washer that holds the spring. I've been told this washer is installed upside down. If you look at the red arrow, you can see there is a small part that curves down about 1mm that's part of the silver washer. I would like to confirm by seeing a few others that have installed theirs and are willing to snap a quick shot and post it in this thread or email me is fine too.

if that's easier.
The reason I'm asking is the lower ring that holds the silver washer slipped down the passenger side rear strut, which is now fixed without damage. But if these rings should be turned around, I want to pull the struts and do it otherwise it's not safe.
Thanks.
I remember installing my RoW set a few month back and the ring did not had this look.
on one side of the ring, there is a ridge, may be 1 mm wide, an this ridge fit perfectly with the piece that maintain the spring on the strut.
I tried to take a picture but not easy to see. I am 'almost' sure the ring is absolutely flat with only a ridge on one side.
your problem might come from a wrong ring... ?
Thanks. It looks like if there is a ridge on yours it's on the top side. I do see the part number on your washer. I wonder if that indicates it's the bottom?
again my set was new from 2010, but I am pretty sure there was no such 'lip' as I can see on your picture.
if the ring is not fitter properly on the ring, I assume the ring move left and right a bit and then apply 'irregular' amount of pressure on the support and then can make it fail.
The pain is that you have to remove the strut to put it upside down. And it is quite some work to do.
I did install the row set in my garage so it is perfectly easy but you need the tools, the time and more importantly the will
The rings on mine were installed upside down. Previous owner had them wrong. And to think I did a DE this year with them incorrectly. I pulled them this morning and flipped them. All good now. Thanks.
