I'm going to be in Philadelphia this weekend (leaving NYC right this second), if any o you Eastern PA Rennlisters wouldn't mind recommending a nice long drive or someplace fun and siren-free to drive tomorrow, I'd be greatly appreciative.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can I ride with you? Gulp, does this mean I actually have to drive?? Well, I'm NOT on call, and if the weather's good, and the roads are clear, count me in!!
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa??? Are my eyes reading this correctly? Kudos to you Phil...i know you represented last year that you would drive your car more often, so I guess your intentions are really going to be carried out! You realize you'll put over a hundred miles...maybe 200 on in one day....right? lol.
If Phil is coming....i'll make a damn good effort to join as well.
J
I believed you, I'm just happy to have you along.
As for miles... If I remember correctly, the Spring Fling route is around 75 miles - the true test of your resolve is whether you're now sitting there with a cold sweat.
Wayen, Phil is probably going to borrow his brother's new 987 S for the day. Either that or hire a flatbed truck for the day to haul him around. I can hear him now "vrooommm..........VROOOMMM"
Hey Phil, aren't you glad I'm back in town?
Tim, I love your plan to take my bro's Boxster - he won't mind (yeah, right). And you know I'm
always
glad when you're back in town, especially since you live in NC and I'm in PA, that's an easy one. Seriously, hope all went well this week!! Looking for your PM.
Sounds cool. Let's make it an early kickoff again so that I can enjoy getting up at 4am to be with you guys...unlike last year. Seriously, great idea and looking forward to it, even if it is 2.5 months away.
Glad to see that we have another eager bunch ready to hit the twisties with us.
I'm looking forward to this one.... I already know that this year is going to be pretty busy and I won't be able to organize as many drives as last year - we'll need to enjoy as many as we can before life gets crazy later.
Yeah, I know what you mean! I would help you organize it but my schedule is so tight lately that I could devote only 6 or 7 weeks continuoisly to the task.
I doubt you could or would want to help with this stuff. It's pretty scary that a significant part of every month is allocated - with the exception of June and July.
Wayne, I meant help with organizing the drive. With my "busy" schedule
, I could do it for
only
6 or 7 weeks at a time then I would need a day or two off.
See if you can include Hawksnest in the trip. Never been there. But from what I've heard it's a great section of road. I'll check my schedule and get back to you.
Jay
Yeah, I know - it's a pity - we would love to have you along. I thought of you as I drove by Monroe on Monday on the way home from Killington.
We need someone to organize a northern NJ drive.
It would be great to meet you some time. I was on the look out for Monroe as we drove up there - you're right, it's quite a way from here.
Holy cow, I can't go anywhere! Yes, I was in Perkasie today - where did you see me? I assume you were not driving the Porsche, a I don't remember seeing any today.
The weather was good, so I took the opportunity to run an errand with the car... now the question is whether you saw me when I was being good, or when I was blowing out the cobwebs.
I beleive it was Rockhill Road. A buddy and I went to go see a possible track candidate for him.
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/car/545477686.html
No the 996 is tucked away for the winter although yesterday and today is tempting.
Hmm. I'm not sure which road Rockhill is. I was mostly being guided by GPS, as that's not an area where I normally play. The only detour was when I took someone for a quick blast on rte 563 to show them what the car can do.
I'm hoping to have the car out again if the weather clear up later this week... this winter has been pretty mild, so the car is coming back out as often as I can be sure of dry salt-free roads.
I takes me an hour and a half to get to Lamberville from my house (North Jersey) but it's well worth it.
I haven't missed one yet. Looking forward to seeing Phil and another C4S.
Glenn
Yup, I have confirmation that Phil and his lovely C4S will be attending. He is even going to clay bar the car in anticipation... someone mentioned that he might have a little bit of dirt on the car somewhere, so he's going to claybar it just to be sure that they're wrong.
He has expressed concern about putting so many miles on the car in one drive. I'm betting that any weather forecast that includes more than one cloud in the sky might scare him off.
The latest news is that we have received an offer to use another parking lot in Lambertville - a really nice one, so I'm probably going to adapt the drive so that we finish in the new lot rather than at the park where we normally finish. Using this new lot will give us space to spread out and privacy to socialize. I'll check it out on Saturday and adjust the route accordingly.
As usual the response has been phenomenal. Here's hoping for a good turn out, but not TOO good a turn out, otherwise I'll be looking to find another group leader so that we can split into two groups. Anyone want to volunteer?
Well, we did the dry run for next weekend's Spring Fling this morning and I have to say that I love this drive.
There was a light fog as we crossed the bridge from New Hope into Lambertville and the river looked amazing.
The roads are in great shape and with the exception of one section of PA-32 all the roads are open. We'll need to make a slight alteration to our route to account for the section of rte. 32 that is closed, but otherwise we're in great shape.
Of all the drives that I've done this route has to be my favorite... a nice combination of fast and slow sections - some roller-coaster climbs and descents and most fun of all the slamming side to side curves.
Lake Nockamixon was quiet and ready for our invasion.
The trees are starting to bud and many have flowers on them - the timing for the drive this year is just perfect, as it's really pretty out there right now.
Just waiting to see if my wife (an Accountant) will be done with tax season. Even though today is April 15th she is still swamped at work
Someone needs to watch the rug rat
yikes....gotta leave town for the weekend now...oh well....have fun folks! I'll try to make the Tri State Run the following weekend.
Best and safe driving,
J
Damn, and you've not gotten bored of the drive yet?
...I've got to admit that considering that I've now done the same drive more often than I'd care to admit, I still haven't gotten bored of it either. I loved doing the dry run on Saturday.
See you in a few days!
No, not yet. I do wish I didn't have to drive an hour and a half each way just to get to Lamberville. If you were closer I would love to bring my wife and daughter. They don't like leaving at 5am.
See you Saturday Morning.
Glenn
No, I don't post this on 6speed. I do this as a joint PCA/Rennlist drive and that gets me around 40 cars for each drive.
Any more than that number is too many to manage and people don't have as much fun. As an organizer we have to look out for the bigger picture of traffic management and the logistics of keeping everyone together during the drive. If I post too many places, then the numbers become too unmanageable.
Besides, 6speed attracts a more diverse crowd - I organize these things with sponsorship from our local PCA region and limit participation just to Porsches.
Yeah, now we just have to hope for me not getting sick between now and tomorrow morning.
My son got sick last saturday and has been sick all week. My wife then caught his bug yesterday and is now out of action. If I start showing symptoms, then we have real problems coming.
It was a scramble to find an alternate navigator last night. SpiderV6 kindly stepped in to navigate for me - it was proving hard to find alternates. At one point yesterday I was close to pulling the plug.
We all owe Nolan a pat on the back for saving the day.
...just don't touch his broken finger.
... I wonder if it's his middle finger that's broken and how that might have happened.
Hehehe. Funny boy.
Nope, all is well right now. I'm feeling great, it's just my family that are feeling rough. I just did a quick wash of the car and we're pretty much ready... I just have to get my notes together for the driver's meeting to make sure I get all my reminders in order, then we're all set.
This one could be one of our best ones yet - the weather and the cars are promising to be spectacular.
Thanks to Wayne for planning and executing a superb Porsche event! It was my first, and it certainly won't be my last. DAMN, these cars are great, fast, and incredibly fun to drive! I had a blast - me and my car are still in a sweat! Tons of cars (I think there were 65 Porsches there), enthusiasts, a fabulous route, and absolutely perfect weather. What more can I say? Congrats for a job truly well done!
Thanks Phil - it was great to see you, the C4S and everyone who participated and a very big thank you to SpiderV6 for an excellent job navigating.
Well, we had a great turnout today - 65 cars showed up at Lambertville this morning. We the exception of a small group we managed to keep everyone together. I was quite impressed to lose to few cars out of such a large group.
We had some fantastic cars show up and it was great to see everyone - the good weather brought out a nice array of convertibles and garage queens alike.
A big thank you to everyone who participated - I'll make a big plea - if you took photographs, please please please - I'd appreciate it if you could send copies to me for use on a website compilation of photos from the event. I'll also assemble a collage for use in our local PCA monthly magazine when I get around to writing up the review of the event. PM me and I'll give you an email address to send the photos to.
Photos to follow!
Thanks again and I hope to see you all again soon!
Okay, here's the photo that you've all been waiting for - Phil with his beautiful C4S.
If you look closely at the front bumper you'll see that it's covered with squished bugs, thereby proving that he did indeed drive it today!
Here's a selection of my favorite photos.
Thanks to all those who joined us from Long Island and Manhattan - it was great to have you with us - it always amazes me that you guys drive 3 hours to get to us, but we're glad that you do!
Look at all that gray - and I don't mean the car! That must be my father.
I want to assure you that the car has been scrubbed - bugs are gone and car is relaxing in it's bed. Enough for one day! Thanks again for a great day in NJ/PA!!
Already? Mine is sitting in a garage, I'll scrub the bugs off the bumper tomorrow. I'm too tired to do it now... plus my neighbors already think that I'm a freak for washing my car - twice in 24 hours would be pushing it.
Phil, sorry that you had to run, it would have been great to have you join us for lunch.
Yep, all clean - especially after your squashed bug observation! Next time I'll join you for lunch - I appreciate the invite. BTW, your car looked great - I really think the wheels are perfect with the white car.
Thanks!
Yeah, it would have been to chat some more, but I knew that you and Curt had other obligations.

Nope - she had other plans yesterday, plus she claims the Porsche makes her carsick. And, when I told her I topped 105 MPH on one of the strights, she didn't seem that eager to do one of these runs with me - at least not in this car. But, she looked over the route you put together, and wants to run it in the Audi TT when it comes in June. I'd rather run it in the Porsche, but a sunny day in the roadster will be fun. Upper Bucks County in the Spring is just gorgeous. Incredible route.
I'm impressed! Being at the front I don't get to go that fast.
I need to find a drive hosted by someone else so that I can enjoy the drive, rather than focusing on keeping the pack together.
So, let me guess you hit your top speed on rte 563?
Since my wife usually navigates (I have zero sense of direction), I have no clue where I was
But, it was on the second leg of the run shortly after we exited the marina. At >100MPH, this car is firmly planted and incredible secure.
Hey Wayne - Thanks for organizing!
I kept a low profile as was nursing a hangover - I didn't get in until 1am, and then was up at 5am for the drive down from manhattan.
Still great great drive, truly splendid scenery, and I really enjoyed it a lot.
Thanks for organizing. Hope your better half is feeling better......
Cheers
Phil
Phil,
Thanks! I was wondering if you made it. I was looking through my photos to see if I captured an image of your car but sadly I guess you were able to hide in the crowd.
I'm glad that you were able to make it for one last trek around the countryside. It's good that you had fun, despite the hangover and lack of sleep.
Didn't realize my friend Nelson was taking pictures until i looked at my camera. Maybe has something to do with why we got lost. LOL
So here is what I have.
Mine was the 928GTS in the last picture. Actually was the perfect choice for those roads. I am so glad I did not bring the turbo I would have been pulled over for sure.
Not to mention that I was over served the night before myself
.
I'm going to be in Philadelphia this weekend (leaving NYC right this second), if any o you Eastern PA Rennlisters wouldn't mind recommending a nice long drive or someplace fun and siren-free to drive tomorrow, I'd be greatly appreciative. PM me!
PM sent - have fun playing down by the Delaware River and you'll love Longwood... well, you will if you're into pretty gardens with lots of flowers.
Have fun!
Had a great trip, really nice this time of year, much thanks to Wellardmac for some solid advice.
After some major inebriated skirt chasing all around Philly Friday night, capped off by a deceptively strong female homeless amputee jumping onto the hood of our cab at 4AM in front of some place called Mansion, we made the drive out to Longwood Gardens. (well not right away).
Perfect. Serene. Love the place, hadn't been in years. For those who haven't been it's a conservatory built by Pierre DuPont back in the roaring 20s/not so roaring 30s, and features a lot of very exotic plant life from all over the world. It's a very relaxing place for guys like me who live in multiple urban jungles most of the year. Would have taken a bunch of P-pics if it weren't for the torrential downpour toward the end. What I have is attached.
And after getting our fill of the finest flora in Eastern Pennsylvania, we got to see some wonderful fauna while we waited out the rain.
Crappy bonus shots included from Philly on the street, parking garage, etc
Nice! Thanks for posting photos and I'm glad that you had a good time... I see that you hit Hooters... I'm guessing that was the one on Rte. 1.
I need to figure out an excuse for a Porsche get-together at Hooters.... if only a meet and greet there's nothing better than hot cars, hot wings and hot women.
That's the one. Best looking girls I saw all weekend. I'd never been to a hooters before (I'm a city boy), so imagine my surprise when I see families sitting down to dinner with their 10 year old sons and 13 year old daughters.
I have to say I always thought the champagne and wings thing was actually a joke, I'll bring my appetite and a designated driver next time
I love hooters - they do an awesome buffalo chicken sandwich. My wife goes there all the time with friends from work... sadly I never get a chance to go there.
