I am planning on trying it out on my next oil change since they make stellar oil filters.

I am not qualified to speak on the matter at all but to my understanding due to the oft cited Magnum-Moss act, Porsche cannot void your warranty for using non-oem oil filters unless they provide oem filters to you free of charge.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There was a Rennlist or Renntech page that use to have a dealer, I can't remember who I thought it was suncoast or sunset, who offered some common maintenance parts like oil filtes, seals, cabin filters, etc at or near cost. It was great. Now 15,000 miles later I need to do some service and can't find it. Does anyone recall who it was and if they still do this?

Cheaper to buy off EBAY - and you can get OEM parts with no problems.
I buy my OEM oil filters in packs of 4 this way, and they come with the rubber O rings and crush washers.

Thanks for the ebay list. cdodkin...never saw them. Signal, Suncoast is in FL, and they are VERY competitive, especially w/shipping. Example: Need a new headlight switch. Dealer says cost (list) is $160, Renntech retail price list shows $108. Suncoast was $72 plus $7 S&H. Sunset was about the same but S&H to east coast was MUCH higher.
Cdodkin, are the bosch plugs from allgermanparts.com seller the correct part for 2002 996 C2 3.6? Bonus points: Are they pre-gapped?
For some reason I thought the correct part was Beru and they have the four prong Bosch which I've heard mixed reviews on (I want to do plugs when I do coolant tank)

Purolator just began making oil filters specifically for our cars. I am planning on trying it out on my next oil change since they make stellar oil filters. Not sure if it comes with the o-ring or not.
Actually I just looked at Pelican Parts and their Mahle filters are around $11 each with the o-ring which makes that ebay listing not that good of a deal so long as one orders enough from Pelican to get free shipping. I am sure that sunset/suncoast will be even cheaper than that.
It's good to live in So. Cal, Pelican is only 20 min. drive to pick up. My local Autozone can order Purolator for $13 and Mahle for $15 pick up next day. Save on shipping charge and time.
11$ each from EBAY with o_ring, crush washer and shipping, - it's still the best deal.
AND he's just up the coast from my house, so delivery is fast!
And they are the OEM filter - FWIW

I like their products as well. I'm going to do oil next week or the week after, do you know who's selling the part. Do I run the risk of invalidating warranty (CPO) running a non-OEM filter?
along the same lines...my dealer says approx. $220 for oil change...includes all parts and labor. How does that compare? (also includes a loan car).
thanks,
Haven't looked yet. As much as I loathe the place you might try Pep Boys. They carry a ton of Purolator products. Purolator also makes a filter specifically for Jags. When looking to buy one for my father's car I learned that they are fairly hard to come by; however my local Pep Boys had them in stock.
I am not qualified to speak on the matter at all but to my understanding due to the oft cited Magnum-Moss act, Porsche cannot void your warranty for using non-oem oil filters unless they provide oem filters to you free of charge. I am probably wrong though. At any rate, I cannot see how a properly selected and installed oil filter could cause damage in a million years unless not changed at a proper interval.
Ahhh,, but just think of all their added value as they provide a 'thorough' visual inspection of your car during the process...
I DIY as well, can't justify pi$$ing away that sort of money every 5k miles on multiple cars.
And these days, I need that $$$ for gas money!
I usually diy as well. However, I found a local mechanic who will do it, while I wait and sip coffee and stand next to him, for $20.00 ( I bring the oil and filter). No a bad deal considering I do not have to lay under the car on ramps, burn my fingers, and then re-bottle and take the oil to the recycler.
