Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some of you might remember the suspension "last call" I posted recently to confirm my intention to order the RoW set-up. Well, after considering much feedback and advice I changed my mind and ordered a set of PSS9s from Vivid . Basically my objectives remain unchanged, I just became convinced the PSS9 was the better choice to get me there. Those objectives are: 1. I want the car lowered/ balanced F&R, but not too low. 2. I am not interested in changing the ride height once set. 3. I want a better ride; not necessarily firmer but more stable/planted without the floatiness, light front end & harshness that plagues stock. 4. The improvements I'm looking for are mainly for street driving as I rarely track, & never will seriously with this car (cabrio). So my final question is do I need upgraded anti-sway bars. I understand my stock set-up already has factory sway bars, so will the stock ones be suffiicient for how I use the car? Will I realize all the benefits of the PSS9s if I keep the stock sways on or should I plan on upgrading them? For those of you that installed PSS9s did you upgrade or keep the stock bars? If you kept the stock bars are you happy with the set-up or do you plan on upgrading in the future? Thanks for all the help. Regards, Paul

POST 2Original post

I got GT3 sways installed at the same time as the PSS9 upgrade. It is the same reasoning people replace the clutch when repairing RMS. Will you realize the benefits? Yes but maybe not all until you track. I have no regrets on spending a few hundred dollars for the sway parts. The steering is so tight and direct now and the car is 100% street until I have time to track in a few years. I would suggest get H&R sways as the price of gone up 50% on the GT3 sways.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I should be more specific; if not seriously tracking the car are the stock C2 sways adequate?

I am now sure as to why you changed your decision from a ROW M030 when everything you describe is a ROW M030. 1. You want to lower your car, but not to much and don't care about adjustability. Why would you spend the money on adjustable coiovers. 2. You want better ride quality. No aftermarket or performance suspension is going to give you as compliant ride quality as stock. The springs and shock dampening with PSS9s is a lot stiffer. Although you can adjust the dampening, don't expect a stiffer strung car to match the ride quality of a softer sprung one. 3. You aren't looking to track the car, so you have no advantage for the adjuatable suspension (corner balancing) or the extra stiffness. 4. Adjustable sway bars are to adjust balance between understeer and oversteer. You need to understand the balance you want to adjsut them propoerly. It doesn't sound like you know what that is. Hence a ROW M030 will provide the best compromise all the way around. It will give you the lower ride height, remove the front end floatiness, a better ride than PSS9s, more neutral cornering and save you some money you would otherwise be wasting. I am not sure what you mean by harshness with the stock suspension as it is simply the least harsh suspension you could have on the car. If you think it is too harsh, you should probably consider something more softly sprung like a Mercedes SL.

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 5505352

I would have to disagree. I think he made an excellent choice. The ride quality will be better than what he can get stock. He can adjust height and dampening. I dont think the springs are to firm at all, they are progressive not linear. Plus with the PSS10's out now, price of PSS9's are only a little more than ROW M030. Also he has the long term benefit that if he wants to track or change height or dampening...bottom line a lot more flexibilty vs none. From what I have read anyone who has the ROW M030 and goes to PSS9's considers it a substantial upgrade. Do it right the first time and it will save you money in the long run!

POST 7Original post

Stock C2 sways are not adequate(edit: even for the street). At the least get a used set of M030 sways, they come up often here when people upgrade to GT3 sways or H&R. Otherwise go with GT3 or H&R. Those that argue that you will only notice a difference in sways at the track, I disagree. dampers, spring, and swaybars are all integral parts of the suspension that work together. Obviously you were not satisfied with the stock suspension so I suggest you upgrade the sways at the same time, or shortly thereafter.

Funny you should post this today. I finally got around to ordering my M030 kit from Jeff @ Sunset today. $1090 including delivery to MD. Waiting for Christmas in July!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting comments; but very different from most of the advice I received including that from the shop I will use to do the install. Most suggested that the PSS9 will give a superior set-up with respect to compression/rebound and an overall better ride than 030. By harsh I do not mean firm. I do not want a softer ride, I want a better ride; firm yet better able to handle dips and corners without the harsh "crash & bounce" I feel with the stock. Anyway, I've placed the order so I'm going with the PSS9s. What I'm really after now is input from those that have installed PSS9 and kept the factory C2 sways. How does this set-up perform on the street? Are you or have you upgraded sways at a later time? What is the proportion of PSS9 upgraders stay with stock vs. those that upgrade the sways? Thanks.

POST 11Original post

Its a slippery slope. Get the sways unless you are going to install it yourself to save labor money. Still, its your time which should be worth a lot of change.

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 5505703

Keep in mind this is for the street and not the track. PSS9's are twice the cost of a ROW M030 + you still need sway bars. I would 100% go the other way if he was looking to track his car. The spring rates on PSS9s are a lot stiffer than he is used to. He really needs to ride in a PSS9 car to see what it is like with the shocks set soft and firm to really understand what he is getting into. If you track your car and prefer handling over ride compliance, then PSS9s are a good way to go. If you set them firm for better handling where the dampening matches the spring rates, you definitely get some harshness over bumps. The bigger the bumps, the worse the harshness. Set softly, it will soften the ride; but it gets bouncy and floaty. Especially on bumpy roads where the bumps are closely spaced.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This was also what I both read and heard when I was deciding, so I have already decided on the PSS9 and they are ordered and on the way too me so this is not intended to be a "did I make the right choice" thread, it's a "what next" thread. I want to do this well, not necessarily cheap. I convinced myself the Pss9 was the better choice and worth the few hundred $ more. Having said that I don't want to spend $ on an additional upgrade that I would not notice or feel, hence the request for opinions on upgraded sway bars. If upgraded sways are a noticable improvement in ride and handling when coupled with the Pss9s then I will upgrade now; the few hundred $ for upgraded sways is not a big deal. If upgraded sways are only noticable when tracking hard and not every day then I would keep the stock for now and upgrade down the road if required. Thanks to all for the input. Regards,
