Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Is there a way to open the trunk lid (2004 996) after pulling the stupid move of disconnecting the battery, closing the lid and pushing the lid down on the latch (and automatic action on my part) to secure it?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a way to open the trunk lid (2004 996) after pulling the stupid move of disconnecting the battery, closing the lid and pushing the lid down on the latch (and automatic action on my part) to secure it? I can't find a solution in the manual...Is there a way out f this mess?

POST 2Original post

Take a look in the passenger side door jamb up in the top of where the fender ends. You should see a little "D" ring clipped to the plastic door jamb liner. Pull on that, and see if it opens the hood.

POST 3Original post

The D ring is for the gas cap door. I'll email you the instructions, but ask that you don't post them--we don't want our trunks broken in to!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, thank you, thank you Poursha ! The trunk lid is now open. I'm glad I'm a 97 lb weakling and not built like Ahnuld S. I owe you and whoever figured out this solution a six-pack.

POST 5Original post

Poursha could you email me these details please. Thanks.

POST 9Original post

Poursha: Good attempt to keep things like how to open your truck in emergencysecret , but the procedures are all ready all over the net and this forum. Unfortunatley, not much can be kept secret. As a mater of fact, all I did a few years ago is to call the dealer and asked the parts department how to do it and they told be in detail. Didn't even know who I was.
